Our school prides itself on developing a positive school culture through managing behaviour in an educative, supportive way.

From the Principal's Desk

There are many exciting events planned for this term.  Many students are looking forward to the commencement of the running club before school next week.  This leads into the Interschool Cross Country held each year in Margaret River towards the end of the term.  The Book Week Parade is on Monday, 23rd August and I know students and teachers are already talking about who they will be dressing up as.  The theme this year is ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’. It will be a great week of promoting books and reading.

The year 4 Adventure days in the local community and the Year 5 camp to Perth later in the term will be a highlight for these students.

A Super Science Circus show is coming as well towards the end of the term for all of our students.

The P&C are an integral part of the school ensuring that we have a canteen running and supporting the school with funding towards resources for students.   They are all volunteers and enjoy the social aspect of coming together as a community to fund raise for the benefit of students at Cowaramup Primary School.

To assist the P&C they would like you to fill out the survey below by clicking on the link.  Your responses will guide the P&C in their operations to assist in getting more volunteers, days and times for meetings, how to spend the money that is raised for students and finding out the best way to get messages out to parents about what the P&C is doing or looking for!

Please take a minute to complete the P&C survey via this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HR3KGSY or the QR code below.

We are asking any parents with Kindergarten students for 2022 to put in their application now if they haven’t done so already.   Letters to parents who have applied will be sent out at the end of next week.   The number of enrolments impacts on the planning of a growing school in terms of staffing and buildings for 2022.

It is nice to see the sun shining today and our students enjoying participating in games and sporting activities outside.

The importance of 'Citizen Scientists'

On Monday, 2 August,  the students of Year 3 walked to Duggan Dam to investigate the quality of the water in our local area.  This exciting initiative is sponsored by Nature Conservation Margaret River.  The excursion was led by Michelle Keppel who explained the important role that students have as ‘Citizen Scientists’.

Students were asked to survey the area and predict the healthiness of the waterway.  Following their predictions students sampled the water by collecting macroinvertebrates and other lifeforms from the dam.  They classified and collated data and thoroughly enjoyed making links to their classroom learning.  Many thanks to the parents who attended and supported their child's learning.  Also, thanks to Michelle from ‘Nature Conservation Margaret River’ for organising the excursion and equipment.

Citizen Scientists in action!

A great performance by 'Yirra Yaakin', an adaptation of Dreamtime stories about Noongar boodjar. The characters portrayed an important message to look after our beautiful country.

Breakfast Club has Moved!

We are now in the ART ROOM! Every Friday morning 8.15am-8.45am.

Thanks to all the staff, students and parents who come along despite rain, wind and cold conditions.  It's nice and warm in the room at least.

If you aren't already joining us, please pop over, say hi and enjoy some yummy brekky.

Nice to see you again Liam

Liam Mannion, a previous student at Cowaramup PS was working hard to clear the debris after branches fell on the gardener's shed.

Liam loves his job and many of his previous teachers were delighted to see him and stopped to say hello.

All our monies that we raise with our fundraising efforts go straight back into our wonderful school.  Below are some of the recent projects around the school that we have helped to make happen.

Beautiful and inspirational decals now installed in some of the girls toilets.

FROM THE OFFICE

Reminder not to use Staff Carpark (near Bus Shelter area)

Reminder to all that the staff carpark is not to be used by anyone for pick up / drop off circumstances.  It is unsafe for children to be in this vicinity with cars arriving and departing.

We often have external contractors that require access to the school via that area so it is extremely important that extra vehicles do not  block that access.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Please - No Dogs on School Grounds

Can you please ensure no dogs are brought onto the school grounds.  We have had cases of dogs coming into class rooms!

Also it is very important there are no dogs around during Running Club (held on Tuesdays from 10 August on the oval) unless they are tied up and fully supervised for the duration.  This is for obvious reasons - that a lot of running children can create very excitable dogs - not a great mix.  Thank you.

Payments made easy

THANK YOU to all parents with your timely payments for this Term.

Remember any payments can be made by Direct bank deposit, cash or EFTPOS.   Cash or EFTPOS payments can be made in person at the Administration Office or over the phone.  When making Direct Bank deposits please include the student name and year.
