PRINCIPAL'S NEWS

Dear Parents

Term 3 has begun really smoothly and it has been tremendous to walk around saying hello to all the students and parents back in our school grounds.

We hope that we will be returning to the normal routines of Learning for Life Assemblies on Monday mornings and Class Assemblies on Wednesdays planned in between other school activities.

There is a lot happening this term and it is going to be exciting.

It is a real pleasure to invite you all to join us in these activities.  We have just had a taste of what it is like when we can’t join together so please, if you can at all possible, make the effort to have some fun with your children and come and cheer, sing or play with us.

Check the Calendar regularly to see what events are coming up and when.  Some are locked in such as the Year six camp in week 5, August 19th to 21st, Scholastic Book Fair, Week 6, August 24th to 28th and Science Week, Week 7, August 31st till September 4th, others may change as we get back into our normal cycle.

Kind regards

Darryl Dedman

Dear parents, guardians and carers

Re: Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

·         year of schooling

·         category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional

·         level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

This information assists schools to:

·         formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools

·         consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools

·         develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).

Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).

If you have any questions about the NCCD, or you do not want your chlld to be included in the census, please come and see me.

Kind regards

CRAZY HAIR DAY

UNIFORM SHOP

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing break.

Next Uniform Shop:  Will be open on Friday 7th August, after uniforms have been restocked.  I will be contacting volunteers this week about availability for our next open day.

Got excess reusable shopping bags?

If you have excess bags that are whole and clean and surplus to your requirements, we’d love to have them, just in case they are needed on open days.  These could be heavy paper (plain or logos like UBER EATs - no food stains), or other coloured bags empty and with no food stains or receipts) or plastic (I am happy to give them a wipe over with sanitiser).

Please drop them in the Uniforms donation box near the canteen.

Delivery update and second hand items.

I will be receiving our deliveries this week.  Once received I will have to unpack count, record and shelve all items.

Please email me with your second hand requests as I have an assortment of sizes available in second hand uniform items.  Once your order is formalised you can then pay for it through Qkr! under the second hand items tab.
