WEEKLY WRAP UP

Wow - week 5 - the time is just flying by!

As previously mentioned, there is lots of FUN stuff to look forward to, including things such as:  Swimming Lessons/Water Safety Day, Excusions/Incursions, Twilight Concert #2  and the Christmas Fair….so many things to remember.  We will endeavour to keep you in the loop with these events.

MUSIC COUNT US IN

Some of our Robina Music Students were lucky to be apart of the Music Count Us In 2019.   Music Count Us In gathers hundreds of children from local schools to join in this celebration and perform together. The 2 locations were Q1 and beachside - Surfers Paradise.

We hope all the performers from Robina enjoyed their time at Music Count Us In.

Thank you to this amazing lady, Mrs Urie (ONE of our MANY amazing music teachers) for always reminding the students how fun & joyful music is.

The saying music is good for the soul is oh so true!

PARENTS

Do you ever struggle with managing tech time with your kids?  Are you worried your child is having too much screen time and not sure how best to manage it?  Do you wonder what they're being exposed to online or through their games?  Are you concerned about cyberbullying or tech addiction?

JOIN US this Wednesday 13th Nov for a special talk from the co-founders of BeSavvy - a CyberSafety course helping parents navigate the great tech dilemma. These guest speakers are coming all the way from Brisbane to share some secrets, tips and strategies with us on how to manage & talk tech with our kids.

WHEN: Wednesday 13 Nov @ 6:30pm WHERE: CPAC Meeting Room (top end of the hall)

Catering & refreshments provided

(The talk will be followed by our November P&C Meeting - our last meeting of the year, which always has a festive theme... come for the awesome speaker, stay for the meeting! Everyone is welcome ?)

ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKERS:

Davina Donovan is a registered psychologist, author and founder Speak Teen Psychology. With 15+ years experience as a psychologist she has witnessed the changes in children, teens and families with the introduction of social media and gaming and has seen first hand what happens when it goes wrong.

Jane Webster is a CyberSafety Educator, Social Media Expert and CEO & Founder of Code9 Parent. As an experienced social media specialist, she has worked with many organisations to help them gain a greater understanding of social media - but found many of them asking questions about apps like Snapchat and Tik Tok... and specifically what they should be doing (as parents) to protect their children. This led her to creating educational programs and online information platforms to support parents with this tricky ever-changing world.

** The P&C have arranged this special event as part of a series intended to give our families access to some of the most relevant and timely expert information to help us navigate the many challenges of raising happy healthy kids in this day and age. Please come along and support these guest speakers who are giving up their time for free to share their knowledge and experience with us.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

ROBINA FAMILIES... WE NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE.

WHO DO YOU KNOW... that might be interested in sponsoring our Robina State School Christmas Fair? Your business? Someone you know? The company you work for maybe? ??

This free community event will include rides, showbags, student performances, community carols, food vendors and more. We have roughly 600 local families in our school of ~800 students so if you know of a business servicing this area, this is a great opportunity for some community engagement and exposure!! Plus — we love to support the businesses that support us! ???

This year we’re raising money for our new Senior Oval Playground, so the more we can raise, the quicker we can build it! But this event will only be possible with the support of sponsors ☺️ See the flyer with more details - if you (or anyone you know) is interested or would like more info, please send us a message or email fundraising@robinasspandc.com.au
