Term 2 Week 2 2022

Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to acknowledge Goulburn as an important meeting place that was inhabited, at first contact with Europeans, by the Gundungurra and Ngunawal people who are the traditional custodians of this land. We would like to pay respect to Elders both past, present and future, also extending that respect to other Aboriginal people present today on the land in which we meet, work and live.

News from the South

Dear parents/carers

I hope everyone had a safe and restful holiday break. Students have re-settled back into Term 2 with ease. I would again like to thank all of our families for being so understanding and also accommodating in making alternative arrangements for supervision for your child/ren yesterday. We know it can be quite difficult and inconvenient but we are truly blessed with such a beautiful community and sincerely thank you for your support.

Athletics carnival

A big thank you to all staff and especially Mrs Oberg for her organization of the athletics carnival. It was a beautiful morning out at Hudson Park today and all the students participated well. We’ll get some of the pictures up on Facebook soon!

Staff changes

Mrs Fennamore was informed in the last week of Term 1, that she had been successfully appointed a permanent position at Bradfordville Public School.

While she will be missed and it is a big loss for our school, I am sure you will join me in congratulating her on her new appointment as gaining permanency is quite the accomplishment and well-deserved. She has been a talented member of the staff here at GSPS and has been adored by 1/2F. We wish her all the very best in her new venture.

Thankfully, Mrs Bosevski has agreed to step into the classroom teacher role in 1/2F for us and the students are very lucky to have a stable and familiar face filling the role for us. Mrs Copland will continue to work in the room as they continue their journey into trialing the new syllabus and provides further stability for routines in the classroom.

Miss Morrow to Mrs Osborne

I would like to thank the staff and the executive team for overseeing a smooth Week 1 while I was away. I got married during the holidays and was out on my honeymoon for Week 1 and was able to relax knowing that they are so competent and capable. My new surname is now Osborne and will slowly transition to Mrs Osborne as I take on my married name!

Kind regards,

Emily Osborne

S1 Newsletter

S1 have had a great start to the term. We have jumped straight back into routine and are having lots of fun with our learning. We are reading James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl and we are really enjoying this fantastic story. When we can, S1 have been enjoying extra play time outside in the sunshine working on our Fundamental Movement Skills during IPLAY sport sessions. In Maths, we have been looking at data. We went down to the school fence near Bourke Street and Addison Street roundabout and collected data on the colours of cars driving past. Who knew so many people had white cars?

Keep up the great work S1!

KF Newsletter

KF have been learning to recognise and generate rhyming words, syllables, and sounds. KF listened this week to, There's a bear on my Chair by Ross Collins. Students had to choose two rhyming words by firstly drawing the pictures, and with assistance wrote the corresponding words.

Boys Touch Football Competition

On Friday the 29th April, the boys touch football side played West Goulburn School at Hudson Park, in the PSSA touch football knockout. The competition was going to be tough as West students all had playing experience, whilst many players for South had never played before. The boys improved as the game progressed scoring four tries, and although we did not come away with the win, students should be very proud of themselves, demonstrating improved communication, co-operation, and sportsmanship.

GRIP Leadership Conference

The GRIP Student Leadership Conference concentrated on training student leaders for their role, this year, as SCHOOL LEADERS. The style, topics, and content of the conference all focused on what the students can do RIGHT NOW.  Year 6 student leaders left with a clear vision, a solid understanding and dozens of ideas for their time as a leader.
