St Mary's Bulletin

Term 3 - Week 5 (19 August, 2022)

Dear St Mary's School Community

Values in Focus: Responsibility

We have a duty to be accountable to ourselves and to others.

Jumps

Congratulations to all the students from Year One to Year Six for their participation in yesterday's Jumps!  Thank you to Mrs Crees for all her planning and organisation of the day and to all the parents who came along to help and spectate.  Please see below for the results.

Assembly

Congratulations to Miss Wells, Mrs Tomljanovich and the Year Two class for presenting a wonderful assembly this morning on the importance of reading with expression!  A wonderful way to start our Friday!

Science Week

Thank you to Mrs McCormack for all her hard work in putting together a great Science Week for our school.  This was topped off this morning with our Science morning for students and their families in the Science Room.  The Year Six leaders were very proud to share what they had been doing in Science and to run the experiment stations.  The chicks and duckling were definitely a hit!

CBCA Book Week

Next week is CBCA Book Week.   Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.  The theme for this year is: ‘Dreaming with eyes open…’. At St Mary’s School, we will be welcoming local author Josh Langley with a Parent Information Session to be held at 6.30pm in the Hall.  Josh will be speaking about mental health and wellbeing.  Josh will speak to the staff and students the next day.  The traditional Book Week parade will be held on Wednesday, 24 August in the Undercover Area commencing at 8.50am.  All are welcome to attend.  Thank you to Collgar Wind Farms for their generous support of our Book Week event.

Staffing News

Ms Jasmin Holmes has accepted a new position and will be finishing her time at St Mary’s School on Friday, 9 September.  Jasmin has been a welcome addition to our school and in particular, the office and she will be greatly missed!  We will have the opportunity to farewell Jasmin later in the term - but in the meantime, please join me in congratulating Jasmin in her new position.

Catholic Leave Day

Next Friday, 26 August is St Mary’s Catholic Leave Day.  The school will be closed on this day as staff take a day in recognition of the extra responsibilities and expectations placed on teachers in Catholic schools.  The following Monday, 29 August is a designated Pupil Free Day.  Enjoy the extra-long weekend with your children.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families.
