Principals Report

Dear parents and carers,

I hope you’re all well and have settling back into remote learning in a positive way.  I know all of our staff would much rather be teaching face to face, and I assume that most of our students would be prefer to be in the company of their friends while they’re learning.  This next phase is about doing our best under circumstance that are not ideal.  Looking on the brighter side of a situation is linked to healthier and longer lives.  While it might be unrealistic to be chipper all of the time, taking a moment each day to reflect with your children about what they are grateful for has known wellbeing and health benefits.

Today I am feeling grateful:

1.       that I got to shoot basketball hoops and kick the soccer ball with some students as a part of my job

2.       that I have received so many thoughtful and supportive emails from parents in the last three days

3.       that my family are safe and in good health.

I encourage you to model this kind of thinking with your children to support their mental health and wellbeing.

COVID-19 testing

Please continue to keep yourselves safe and get tested if you have symptoms.  If you take your children to get tested, please inform the school of your results.  This is particularly important if you, your children or other family members receive a positive test result.  There are specific safety processes that need to be enacted if we have a “confirmed positive case of COVID-19” or a “confirmed close contact of a positive COVID-19 case”.  There is starting to be a growing number of secondary contacts popping up throughout the Macedon Ranges, ie a close contact of a close contact.  At this stage there is no further action that you need to take if this is you unless you have symptoms, whereby you need to go and get tested.

Parent Teachers Interviews – Via WebEx – re-scheduled

The parent teacher meetings are going to be scheduled for two days on the week between Monday 17 August and Friday 21 August.  These days have not been finalised yet.

The online booking system will be emailed to you early next week and will be open for bookings from 4pm on Tuesday 11 August.  Once you have booked in your time, your child’s teacher will schedule WebEx meetings with you via email.

Stay well,

Matthew Forrest
