Dear Parents,
This weekends’ readings are about life. They are about putting our trust in God from whom our life comes. We are part of nature, and we know that we need to break through to communion with God if we are to experience the life for which we long. No matter our age and life-experience, we reach for the light, we want to break through into life, we don’t want to be trapped or bogged down. If we are to break through to a freedom in which we can receive and give love, we need two things- Love and discipline. If our heart is going to learn to love, we cannot afford to let it give in to any passing whim or fleeting desire. If our mind is ever going to learn to think well, we will have to stop opening it to all the sights and sounds in the ether and learn to discipline ourselves to acquire habits of thinking that will liberate us by training and refining our capacity to create what is truly worthwhile. -Fr Michael Fullen
Last Friday we celebrated our biggest community day of the year- Grandparents Day. After a three-year hiatus it was great to see our students celebrating the love they have for their grandparents and the role they play in their lives through our liturgy and morning tea. Thanks to our parents who assisted for our grandparents to attend the celebrations. Your efforts were appreciated by our staff and students. Thanks to our students, teachers, our school band and “Cuppa Crew” who all contributed to our morning’s celebration. Thanks to Mrs Wynne for her organisation and passion in co-ordinating the day over the last few weeks. A special thanks also to Mrs Cassar who shared her reflections and love on being a grandparent. Congratulations and thanks to all concerned. A great day!
Please keep in your prayers the stage three children in our parish and school communities who are preparing with their families for the sacrament of Confirmation over the next few weeks. This is a most significant time in the lives of our young men and women as they are fully initiated into the church community and have bestowed upon the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd September.
The upcoming swimming programme will commence on MONDAY 22ND AUGUST and conclude on FRIDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER
The children from Kindergarten to Year 4 involved in the swimming program will attend Hills Sports High School Seven Hills. On the first day of the program, all students’ abilities will be assessed in a safe way by the instructors. They will then participate at their own ability and progress through levels as they acquire skills and knowledge over the two-week programme. The program caters for all swimming abilities. Children are actively engaged for the whole swimming session. All students are expected to participate in the programme irrespective of their swimming ability. Students who do not take part in the programme will attend the session with their class and sit with their teachers on the pool deck each day.
Congratulations to all our students who represented CTK at the Zone Athletics carnival on Wednesday. All athletes competing did our school proud with many of them achieving PBs on the day. Thanks to Mrs Kelly-Hosking who was our team manager, and to all the parents who supported our children throughout the day. A special congratulations to Nicholas Klamer Snr Boys Age Champion and Callan Moutzouris U/11s Age Runner up for 2022. Well done boys!
Since returning to school this term I have noticed students chewing gum. Neither bubble or chewing gum are permitted at school as it is often spat on the ground and walked into carpets in the classrooms. Your support in speaking to your children about this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Have a great week
