Finding the positives in life...

The ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Loyalty Square is a very special event for the Balmain community. I was impressed with our student leadership team, who attended the service and proudly represented Balmain Public School, alongside Ms Whelan and Ms Burke and other BPS families.

Sadly, I was unable to personally attend, as I was still recovering from COVID...thankfully, only a mild case. It's so easy to focus on the negative, however, the positive I was able to take away from this experience, was spending time together as a family, literally 24/7!

Luckily, my son was able to experience freedom on the Friday at 6pm, as the close contact regulations eased! A positive for him!

It's been such a great start to the term, with a fabulous end of the week...check out what our Environmental Warriors got up to!  https://www.instagram.com/p/Cc9oK5uPf0h/

SkoolBag is our main comms @ Balmain PS...

***SKOOLBAG IS OUR MAIN FORM OF COMMUNICATING WITH YOU***In case of urgent/important communication, notifications via the Skoolbag app on your phone will keep you informed***

To ensure you receive all communication via SkoolBag, please have the app downloaded on your phone, with the notifications turned ON.

Although the school pushes out notifications via the app and email, there may be times when an important message may be missed as emails may sometimes not be checked regularly.

If there were to be an emergency, (hopefully not), information would be pushed out via SkoolBag.

If you need assistance downloading the app, please see below...

From the Office

How can we be of assistance today?

ALL Emails / permissions etc MUST include the student's FIRST NAME / LAST NAME & CLASS

Please remember that if you are collecting your child early for an appointment or dropping them off, please ensure you allow extra time for your child to be located and brought down to the office.

If your family details, circumstances have changed, ie:  address, mobile numbers, separations, court orders etc, could you kindly email the school so records can be updated. This will ensure correct people are contacted and all relevant information is passed on correctly.

When paying for anything on your child's account to the school, please make sure you haven't already paid, to avoid unnecessary refunds.

If you are experiencing financial difficulty, please contact the office, or Mrs Lambos, to arrange alternate options.

Mother’s Day Events – Friday 6th May 2022

To celebrate all you awesome mums & female carers we have two fantastic events next Friday 6th May.

Please join us from 8am for our annual Mother’s Day BBQ Breakfast under the cola. We look forward to welcoming you back on school grounds for this lovely community event.

Gold coin donation – raising funds for Miss Pauline’s Garden.

Then we have our amazing Sole Sisters Walk and Lunch where local Balmain school communities join together to raise funds for children affected by trauma. Parents at Nicholson Street, Father John Therry, Balmain, Birchgrove and Rozelle Public will all start the walk at their respective schools from 10am and converge on Mort Bay to walk together for 5km. The walk ends with lunch and a mother’s celebration at The Cat & Fiddle Hotel, Balmain.

Your ticket includes champagne on arrival, two course lunch and a guest speaker, with all profits going to Be Centre. After an incredible event last year it is so nice for us to connect with the community again and enjoy a relaxing walk and lunch together.

Ticket Price: $65 at https://www.nichopandc.com.au/shop

Thanks to all the volunteers who are helping out on these events, we couldn’t do it without you!

We look forward to seeing you at one or both events to celebrate all mother figures.

Spotlight on...

1/2 JELLYFISH!!!!

1 / 2 Jellyfish love hanging out together and floating in the ocean of learning!

We’ve had lots of fun collecting, organising, and analysing data displays this week.

Today we practised posing questions and collecting data on the different coloured cars parked around Gladstone Park.

Sam and Saxon collected data on our playground's natural and man-made features.

Can you guess 1/2 J's favourite colour? Charlie and Macy found out! It’s blue!

Sage, Siena and Margot asked 1/2 Jellyfish about their favourite activity on the monkey bars. Did you guess the swing? If so, you’re right.
