Principal's Message

I wanted to take this opportunity to reiterate the information that was posted on Skoolbag yesterday regarding when the school is able to notify the community of positive COVID cases.

In line with Department directives, at present, in the event of a confirmed case (evidenced by a PCR), a Skoolbag post will be made to the community informing there has been a positive case in a particular room. The affected room will then be notified by a follow up email and/or phone call. This post will be made under the following conditions.

  • WA Health calls the school and confirms a positive case in your school;
  • The Department Incident Management Team calls the school and confirms a case, or
  • The school has sighted a positive PCR notification from a parent/carer or staff member.

RAT test positives cannot be reported unless confirmed by a PCR test.

It is likely that in many cases you will hear about positive RATs through class groups or the local community before you are notified of a confirmed case by the school. This does not necessarily mean that we are not aware, rather that we are working through the process.

Please continue to inform the school of any positive RAT tests, however, it would also be advisable to follow up with a PCR where possible to expedite the communication process.

I am hopeful that this directive will be relaxed in coming days and weeks as case numbers increase across the state and more reliance is put on RATs, however, for now, please understand that the school is unable to act upon a positive RAT test alone.

Thank you for your understanding, and please be assured that we aim to keep lines of communication as open as possible.

As always, if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me by phone, email ( sarah.dawson@education.wa.edu.au ) or in person.

Twos Day!

Thank you to Mrs Cooke and the Your Move Team for organising such a fun dress up opportunity on Tuesday, which was of course linked to our Active Transport goals.

Congratulations Ms Spagnolo

Congratulations to Kasey and Jimmy on the safe arrival of their gorgeous baby girl Evie, who arrived 20 February.

May the arrival of your baby be the beginning of a wonderful and beautiful journey for you and your family.

Your Move Program

Thank you to everyone for participating in and celebrating Your Move's event TWOSDAY on 22/02/2022! What a great turn out! We earned 73 points.

We have a new Year 4 team! 13 students returned their task to write something about being a great Your Move Leader. They blew me away with what they sent in! AMAZING!

Congratulations to the following students who are the new Year 4 Your Move team members - Mia, Lola, Hudson, Leo, Jaxon, Jacob, Jenson, Ariane, Mali, Giulia, Flora, Sage, Sophie, Ben.

We carried out a secret Hands Up Survey on the 18th of February and compared it to similar time last year. See the story link to view details on how we are doing. We earned 30 points https://www.yourmove.org.au/scarborough-primary-school/hands-up-survey-2022-scarborough-primary-school/

We are super excited for another great year ahead. Last year we achieved Double Platinum, which won us a huge grant of $15,000 ($2,500 bikes and bridge for Kindy & Pre-Primary to enjoy) and $12,500 for bike shelters with scooter and bike racks.

Our goal this year is to achieve Double Platinum again and to be number one.

On the leader board, now:

Mandurah PS is tops with 511 points

St Augustine PS is second with 249 points

Scarborough PS with 192 points is in third place

Let's get our student and families active and increase those points!

Stay Active!

CANTEEN

We are always looking for canteen volunteers. So, if you or anyone in your immediate family (aunts, uncles, grandparents etc) have any Friday mornings available, Laura would love some assistance in the SPS canteen.

Helping out in Canteen means that you come in and support Laura for 2 hours, usually between 10am-12pm or 11am-1pm; whatever works for you! Duties consist of washing dishes, prepping pizzas, handing out lunches, etc.

E-mail us at the P&C or speak to Laura on Fridays in the canteen if you are keen to help.

A special reminder to all Kindy group 2 parents and caregivers; you can also order lunch and recess from Canteen every Friday! Don’t bother making yet another lunch; order before Friday 8.30am via Quickcliq.com.au and we will deliver it your child’s classroom.

Please also note that all canteen orders need to be placed via QuickCliq prior to 8.30am on Friday. Cash is not accepted.
