A FEW WORDS FROM THE PRINCIPAL

        Dear Parents/Caregivers,

PUPIL FREE DAY TERM 4 – MONDAY NOVEMBER 2nd

Governing Council has endorsed a Pupil Free Day for Monday November 2nd, Week 4 in Term 4. This is for staff to undertake a mandatory site hazard inspection and then moderate curriculum with colleagues in preparation for report writing. OSHC will be available for care on the day so please book in with Lissy or Sally on 8381 7577 if you require care.

SPORTS DAY

Well, the weather certainly didn’t turn out to perhaps be the best, a number of small changes were made to the program to allow all students to enjoy the day fully. Lots of fun was had by all with a lot of different indoors and undercover activities. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Ellie Burford for all the work she put into preparation for Sports Day and the flexibility she showed with the impact of the last minute changes required for a weather change. Thank you also to the other staff members who have helped Ellie prepare and to all staff for helping children have a great day!  Thank you also to the Yr 7 leaders who helped throughout the day. What a fabulous way to end the term!

The results for the competition are as follows:

HIGHLIGHTS OF TERM 3

We have had another busy and successful term. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all staff for their commitment to the education and support of your children and associated administrative processes in the school. Your children are certainly most fortunate to receive the level of experience and expertise that we enjoy in our school. Students have also worked very hard and should be acknowledged for their work and efforts. Despite some restrictions on some excursion and incursion options, there have still been a number of highlights aside from our routine programs including:

  • Student Voice in Learning program
  • Yr 7 student leaders programs
  • Genki Kids program
  • RAA Street Smart Program
  • SAPSASA Netball, Football, Volleyball, Soccer, Athletics and Gymnastics in school program
  • Belair cubby building excursions
  • Science Week incursion
  • Wakakirri, Aladdin and Wizard of Oz Drama performance preparation and rehearsals
  • Warriparinga Kaurna Cultural Centre, Marion History Trail and Kingston Park visit
  • AFL Max excursion
  • Kidz Biz Growth & Development sessions
  • Sports Day
  • National Support Staff Week

DRIVING SAFETY AND RESPECT ON OUR ROADS

You may have witnessed a 3 car collision in front of the school that unfortunately occurred before school on Wednesday this week. Thankfully no-one was injured, however it does serve as a reminder of the need for drivers to follow all road rules to ensure safety for all students, drivers and pedestrians around our school. There are clear speed and parking restrictions around the school and specific expectations for the use of the drop zone. It is also very important not to cut corners when turning into intersections where cars are waiting to enter roadways.

I would also ask that if you hit a parked car by mistake, you report it to the school (or the OSHC if it is out of school hours). There have also been instances recently of accidental collisions with staff/parent parked cars but the drivers responsible have chosen to leave the scene without reporting it. As a school our values of Respect and Responsibility are the pinnacle of our ethos I and thank you for your cooperation in helping us observe them.

SCHOOL SECURITY IN THE HOLIDAYS

To help prevent vandalism and other crime in the school during the holidays, we seek your support to please report any suspicious behaviour you may observe in and around the school to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or direct to Police on 131 444. I thank you in advance for doing so.

.... AND FINALLY

May your children all enjoy a safe holiday. We look forward to having everyone return safely to school on Monday October 12th.

A Few Words from the Deputy Principal

Sports Day 2020

All the classes have had a wonderful end to the term. They have been fun doing activities inside the classroom and out and we even got to run around for a bit of a fun run because the rain stayed away. I was well rugged up but could have done with my sunglasses!

I will add my thanks to Ellie Burford for her enthusiasm and adaptability for all aspects of the day. All teachers and SSOs have put in that extra effort to ensure that our students have had an active and fun day. All students have participated with excitement, enthusiasm and endurance. (I did yard duty on the oval at recess and could not believe the number of students who were choosing to run around for the entire thirty minutes!)

Last Day of Term 3

Thank you to our very hard working staff at Hallett Cove East where everyone does their bit to ensure that the whole works so smoothly and efficiently.

Well done to all students who have applied themselves in so many areas this term and truly displayed our school values of Responsibility, Respect, Excellence and Fairness.

I hope everyone has a great break from school over the next two weeks and feels refreshed for the challenges and excitement of term 4.

Kind Regards,

Andrea Hayden

Deputy Principal
