Dear parents/carers,
Congratulations to Mrs Foley who was successful at interview for our vacant assistant principal position. Mrs Foley has been relieving in the position for a period and will be a great asset to our executive team. Merit selection for the second vacant assistant principal position is still to be finalised.
The term is progressing very rapidly and it has been great students have had a full year of on-site school. The Health Department has warned that there are increased number of COVID cases circulating. You can assist by not sending children to school if they are unwell and letting us know if your child tests positive to COVID. We will continue to let you know on a weekly basis if we have had COVID cases reported in the school.
Please remember to observe parking regulations around the school. At the Smith Street gate on Monday morning I observed several cars double parking, a car parked across the neighbour's driveway and a car parked in the No Stopping zone in front of the pedestrian crossing. Illegal parking can be dangerous, forcing other cars to cross the centre line or children to exit the car on the road, Parking in front of the pedestrian crossing can obscure pedestrians from the view of oncoming cars and be very dangerous to children or adults crossing. It seems like there are many cars dropping children off late in order to get parking closer to the gate. Please remember children should arrive before the morning bell goes.
In 2023 we will be implementing new syllabuses in English and Mathematics. Next year the syllabus will be implemented in years K-2 and in 2024 the syllabus will be implemented in years 3-6. Staff have been working hard to become familiar with the new syllabus, devoting many hours of professional learning to build competence and understanding.
