The days are flying by quickly and all the end-of-year activities and events are now taking place. The Years 3-6 students had a wonderful time at their TCN Awards Night on Sunday evening. The Honourable Mr Greg Piper, MP, attended this event and presented the students with their awards. The students are to be congratulated for their outstanding achievements during the year. We have seen some great editions of the news from them this year. A big thank you to Mrs Thompson for all her hard work with TCN and and the Awards Night. I also want to thank all those who so willingly helped Mrs Thompson out with this event. We really appreciate your efforts!
I have been keeping very busy lately interviewing for new students. God is answering prayers! We look forward to welcoming new families to Toronto Adventist School in 2020. A big thank you to Mrs Stubberfield for all her hard work with our Kindy Orientation program earlier in the term. It was great to spend time with the 2020 Kindy students and their parents. The children even visited our garden and planted some beautiful flowers. They went home with all sorts of interesting things they had been making in Mrs Stubberfield's class.
WATCH US GROW - Our school is increasingly moving towards becoming a Project Based Learning School. The students have been so proud to showcase some of their hard work at various times during the year. As you know, PBL (Project Based Learning) is an approach to learning in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. If there is a problem to solve, students have to figure it out TOGETHER. It's all about collaboration and learning to work in teams. In the new year, you will start to see how the layout of the classrooms reflect the approach to learning that we are taking. We even have plans to make the classrooms in the original block of our school into more collaboration friendly spaces in terms of their connectedness with each other. To start the ball rolling in this direction, I will be moving my office over to the main office block and this will then open up more room for collaborative learning in the original block. We look forward to sharing further details of new developments with you in due course. Exciting times!
I want to take this opportunity to thank all those families who have made regular school fee payments and have settled their account for the year. We appreciate your dedicated efforts. If you have not yet settled your account then please do so by Friday, 6 December 2019. Thank you, in advance, for honouring your commitments and for understanding that we very much rely on fees to keep the school afloat.
We look forward to seeing you all at Speech Night on Thursday, 5 December when we will come together to celebrate the students' outstanding achievements. This will also be a time when we will thank God for blessing our school in so many ways during the year.
God bless,
Miss Charmony Dias
