PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Welcome back to Term 4 everybody! Over the holiday break we have farewelled several families, but also welcomed six new ones to our ever changing and growing community. We have also seen our Room 7 Pre-primaries move into a fantastic new learning space in the newly installed transportable and our art and music specialists move into Room 7 to allow all students improved access. The boy’s toilets have received a much needed refurbishment and the flooring in Room 6 has been replaced to make it a more functional early childhood learning environment.

In staffing news we can now officially welcome Mr Dorozenko into the Deputy Principal role for the remainder of the year, confirm that Mrs Austin will be continuing in Room 4 and welcome back Ms Toner who will be joining us in Room 1 for the term.

Just as importantly, a new phone system upgrade means that we now have a new phone number. Please update your phones and contact lists with the new Scarborough Primary School number, 9222 9200. The old number will be redirected to this new service for the next 12 months.

Please read below for important information regarding:

School Board

We are still looking to fill 3 parent representative vacancies on our School Board. Two will be of a 3 year tenure and one will be of a 2 year tenure. One will commence this term with the other two commencing in Term 1 of 2020.  You will need to be a parent at Scarborough Primary School in 2020 to be eligible.

Should there be more nominations than vacant positions, all parents will be offered the opportunity to vote. Candidates will then be asked to provide a 250 word brief and a portrait style photograph to include on the voting slip.  Members of the Board may hold office for a term not exceeding three years. New members of the Board will undertake training and will have a mentor allocated to assist with induction onto the Board.  If you are interested, please email to Sarah.Dawson@education.wa.edu.au or submit in person to the front office. The nomination form which can be found here or on our website under School Board. Nominations close at 3:00pm, Friday 25 October 2019.

The Board’s role is required to help the school deliver a quality education experience to our children by:

  • establishing and reviewing the goals, priorities and policies of the school at a strategic level;
  • supporting the development of our School Business Plan;
  • planning for and endorsing school budgets;
  • evaluating the performance of our school in achieving the goals set; and
  • promoting our school within the community.
