Rozelle is a place where Aboriginal children learned, played and celebrated their culture for thousands of years on this beautiful, natural land. As we learn, play and celebrate together on this land, we honour the Wangal people of the Eora nation and pay our respects to elders both past, present and emerging.
UNIFORM SHOP - IMPORTANT UPDATE
For many years, the P&C has run the school uniform shop which has relied on community volunteers. A key role has been the uniform shop coordinator who has been responsible for stock management, finances and general coordination. Over recent months it has become apparent that there is no one in our community who has the time or availability to take on this responsibility.
The P&C and I are currently exploring all options. However, it is important to flag that in 2023, it is most likely the uniform shop will be outsourced and be operated by a retail organisation. As with everything, there are pros and cons to both models. Should the uniform shop be outsourced, parents will still be able to order online and collect all purchases from school or have them delivered to your home. There will be a retail outlet for those families who require a personalised fitting. It is important to understand that if the uniform shop is to be outsourced there will be a price increase across all items.
No final decisions have been made. If there is someone in our community who would like to take on the uniform shop coordinator role please email the school. I will be able to pass on your details to the P&C who can provide you with more information about the volunteer role.
A final decision will be made at the last P&C meeting of the year on Wednesday 23 November 2023.
CLASS FORMATIONS FOR 2023
The school is beginning to plan for 2023 and I would like to extend a sincere thanks to all the families who have indicated their enrollment intentions. This important information is necessary to make informed planning decisions especially regarding class formations.
At Rozelle, classes are mixed ability, they are not streamed (graded). Over the coming weeks, staff will spend hours carefully considering the makeup of each class. Forming a class is complex and many factors are taken into consideration. Academic, social, behavioural, complex needs, student combinations are all taken into account. Students are asked to identify five friends who they would like in their new class. While all five may not be in the class, staff will do their very best to ensure at least one or two friends from their list are in their new class. At the start of the year, once classes are formed and announced, requests to move are not possible. Therefore it is important to communicate any concerns before the end of the school year.
HALLOWEEN DISCO THANK YOU
Last Friday our P&C ran a Halloween Disco that was lots of fun for students. The costumes were wonderfully creative - if not a little spooky! I would like to extend a big thank you to the team of volunteers who put in a great deal of time and effort to ensure a safe and successful event. Thank you to Annabelle Berriman and the team for last Friday’s event and the successful outdoor movie night held at the end of Term Three. Our community is very lucky to have a P&C which is always looking to plan and host inclusive community events.
YEARS 3-6 PRESENTATION DAY ASSEMBLY
Mrs Svinos, our Deputy Principal, is planning for our end of year Presentation Assembly. This assembly is for our 3-6 students and parents are most welcome to attend. The assembly is planned for Friday 9 December commencing at 9.15am.
COVID - IS STILL ABOUT!
It is important to remain aware that staff and students continue to test positive for COVID-19. While numbers are low, staff and students should stay at home when sick. To maintain community health and minimise transition it's important we take a common sense approach. This includes:
If your child has been exposed to COVID-19 it is recommended that you monitor for symptoms and test if you have any concerns.
Students should not attend school while they are unwell and only return when symptom free.
If your child tests positive the school must be informed.
Should you wish your child to wear a mask, they will be supported by staff.
The school can provide families with additional RAT kits. These are available on request.
