Hammondville Public School Newsletter

Issue 11 - Term 2, Week 1 - Tuesday 30th April 2019

A Message from the Principal

Term 2

I would like to warmly welcome all our community members back to school. We have another busy and exciting term ahead of us with many events and engaging learning opportunities planned.

Easter Hat Parade

We had a fantastic Easter Hat Parade last term and I would like to thank Mrs Dorrington for her organisation, the P & C for their support and raffle organisation, the students for their excellent behaviour and hat making skills and the K-2 teachers for their enthusiasm on the day. Well done to all it was a great celebration.

ANZAC Service

Our ANZAC service this year was a welcome remembrance of the amazing sacrifice our service men and women have made and continue to make for our country. A huge thank you to Mrs Ford and Mrs O’Hanlon for their organisation on the day and in the weeks prior to the service. These assemblies take a lot of coordination from outside agencies and a big commitment to be successful.

Uniforms

Just a reminder to parents and carers that we pride ourselves on having a uniform that unites our students and demonstrates respect for our school. Can I please ask that you ensure your child comes to school in full school uniform. Any accessories worn such as hair ties should also be school colours. Thank you for your support and cooperation in this matter.

Kindergarten Literacy and Numeracy night

Just a reminder to our Kindergarten parents that this Wednesday 1st May we will be holding our Literacy and Numeracy at 6pm in the Kindergarten rooms. This night is designed to provide parents with ideas and strategies to support their child’s learning at home. We look forward to seeing you a there. Thank you to the Kindergarten teachers for you organisation and preparation for this night.

The school calendar for term 2 is attached at the bottom of this newsletter.

Helping Kids make friends

Some children have difficulties making friends and as parents this can be a source of worry and concern. If this is something that concerns you the Department have factsheets to help, that provide strategies for parents to support their child in this area. Woolworth's Earn & Learn

As mentioned last term we are participating in the Woolworths Earn and Learn program for 2019. Through the program we will be able to choose new educational resources for our school and all we need to do is shop for groceries at Woolworths.

From Wednesday 1st May to Tuesday 25th June we are collecting Earn and Learn Stickers. You will receive one sticker for every $10.00 spent (excludes liquor, Tobacco products and gift cards). Place the stickers on the sticker sheet and when complete drop it into the collection box in the school office.

At the end of the program teachers will choose some great equipment for the classrooms ranging from resources for Maths, English, Science and Arts and Crafts.

If you would like to know more visit woolworths.com.au/earnand learn.

I will keep you up to date each week on our sticker tally.

IT IS TIME TO GET OUR COMMUNITY TO STICK TOGETHER.
