Dear Parents and Caregivers,
This week saw our students return to school in a full time capacity and we are impressed with how quickly they have settled back into routine. We must be mindful that there are still precautions that we need to continue to follow to ensure the safety of our students, staff and community. These include:
-Limiting adult presence on site and avoiding forming social clusters with others.
-Ensuring your child remains home from school if they are unwell.
-Making sure students have a full drink bottle as bubblers remain closed.
-Increased cleaning allocation to clean high touch areas throughout the day.
-Regular hand washing in class. Hand sanitiser readily available in all classrooms.
-Restrictions to the number of adults in school office/foyer area.
-Restricting school activities, avoiding whole school gatherings, assemblies and excursions.
Term 2 Staffing
On Monday, parents of Year 4 students received a note outlining some staffing changes for Term 2 and beyond. With news that Mrs Flannery and Miss Cox have made the decision to reduce their days to one day per week to spend time with their famiies, it has been necessary to make changes to the staffing structure of Year 4. We have been fortunate that Mrs Andrea Coleman has agreed to take the class each Tuesday - Friday for the rest of this term while Mrs Flannery remains on the class each Monday. Miss Cox will be engaged in other roles within the school each Thursday.
Mrs Coleman has developed an excellent relationship with our students as our first call casual this year and she was a mainstay on our staff during the COVID-19 period where she taught Stage 2 essential workers each day. I am always particularly mindful of the need to maintain consistency for our students and to this end we have increased support to the class. This includes team teaching opportunities between Mrs Coleman and Mrs Flannery, increased SLSO (Teacher Aide) time in the room for the remainder of the term and increased support from our Learning and Support Teacher (Mrs Baxter) for the Year 4 class.
A decision on how the class will be staffed for Terms 3 and 4 will be announced once finalised towards the end of this term.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss the changes.
