Term 4 Week 4

Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to acknowledge Goulburn as an important meeting place that was inhabited, at first contact with Europeans, by the Gundungurra and Ngunawal people who are the traditional custodians of this land. We would like to pay respect to Elders both past, present and future, also extending that respect to other Aboriginal people present today on the land in which we meet, work and live.

News from the South

Well we are now into the better part of Week 4 and the beginning of November. In week 3 we celebrated our Book Fair. It was great to see so many students and staff getting into the spirit of dressing up as their favourite characters. We would like to thank our parents and carers for again supporting our Book Fair. This year has seen so many events changed by the restrictions imposed by COVID, however; this did not spoil the book fair and we raised over $500. This money has been used to purchase more books and resources for the library.

COVID 19 Procedures & Reminders

Just a reminder that NO PARENTS or NON ESSENTIAL personnel  are to be on school grounds at any time. If you are dropping your child to school please remain outside the the school. If you are collecting your child early, again please remain outside the school and call the office 4821 27 59 to notify the staff that you are here to collect your child. Even though some restrictions have been lifted we request that parents continue to observe the social distancing rules and maintain 1.5 metre distance. Please do not congregate outside the school grounds - this request is for the safety and wellbeing of our school and community.

Students who are unwell

In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. If a student presents to the office unwell, a member of staff will take the students temperature and contact the family or emergency contacts to come and collect the student from school.

NSW Health has requested that schools encourage anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms, to arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID 19 clinics.

Students and staff with flu-like symptoms will need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom-free before being permitted to return to school.

Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test result will not be permitted to return to school for a 10 day period. Additionally, they must be symptom-free for at least 3 days prior to returning to school.

Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition. If the student develops new or changed symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19.

Lids4Kids

Lids4kids is a community group that collects plastic lids  from drink bottles and bread bag clips. The lids are then given to the Envision Hands charity to make hand mobility aids and the bread bag clips go to a wheel chair charity. We would like to thank the families and community members who donated to the Goulburn South collection bucket. We have received a tally of the number of collected items that were sent to Lids4kids.

Out and About

Welcome to Kindy 2021

Our kindy orientation has been run differently this year. Mrs Manning and Mrs Harrison  have attended a Meet and Greet at the Roses Cafe over a two week period. This has provided an opportunity for our new kindies and their families to meet, greet and have a cuppa, one on one. We can't wait to meet you all in 2021

Another reminder that parents are to drop the students at Veolia in the morning with a teacher - do not leave them at the arena unattended

K/6B News

K/6B are thoroughly enjoying Gymnastics lessons each week and we are challenging ourselves to get better at each activity. We especially like the trampolines and the mat activities.

Each Tuesday we have our library lessons. Thank you to Mrs Mead for always sharing stories with us that we love and allowing us the time to sit and read for enjoyment.

Garden Club News

Mrs Leten's Class 3/4L have had a busy start to the term in Garden Club each week. Our shredded paper is recycled through the chook pen which is then added to our compost to give it an extra boost. This compost and worm farm extracts are added to our veggie beds. The students dug this in to our wicking beds and planted out lettuce and tomato seedlings on Monday. Thanks to a generous donation from Bunnings, all students now have a pair of gardening gloves each. Students have also been harvesting the snow peas from our front vegetable bed. Have a look- the plants have grown well this year with all the rain and climbed out the top. The class had planted the pea seeds out in term 2. They wash and enjoy the snow peas during Crunch and Sip- a well earned reward for their work in Garden Club.

1/2H

Term 4 has been very busy for 1/2H so far. We have been very fortunate to have Ms Liggans working in our classroom and have enjoyed spending this time with her… as you can see from the photos! Currently we are also working on writing and presenting our speeches with the topic of “Our Favourite Things!”  1/2H have been very enthusiastic participants in the gymnastics program expanding their physical skills each Monday.
