Reflection

We give thanks for all the teaching and learning that has taken place in our school, both in and out of the classroom. For the talents and gifts that have been shared and the challenges that have been faced with a growth mindset; for the respect and care that has been given to us. We give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown. We give thanks for the words that have been used for good and made us feel safe and happy.

Bless our families as we take our holidays.

We give thanks for Mr Fogarty. We are grateful for his love and dedication to us.We pray that he is safe in his travels. We also pray that Mrs Mulholland, Julie and Mrs Potter and their families are safe and happy on their wonderful adventures.

Leadership and Management

Dear Parents and Friends of Our Lady’s School Community,

What a great way to finish the term with our Fun Run on Monday. Congratulations to Mrs Jane James for organising the event and to all the parent helpers for their support on the day.

Thank you Ms Clare Hicks, our Deputy Principal, for helping our students to make authentic connections between this event and our faith. The event was so much more than a Fun Run. Our students ran with real purpose and intent to make a difference in the lives of others. I know how much Ms Nicholson appreciates all Our Lady’s has done to support the children of Grace Orphanage in Uganda.

Playground

Work has commenced on the school playground. After a long process of planning and consultation, we are all very excited to see this project finally underway.

To make every opportunity of this experience,  teachers are aligning the curriculum outcomes in Maths, Design and Creativity, during the course of term 2.

It is anticipated that the work will be completed by the end of week 4.

School Logo

Thank you to the many families that took the opportunity to respond to the survey to select our new school logo. The Parish Education Board was extremely pleased with the response rate. The new school  logo brings our school vision statement to life and presents Our Lady’s Primary School in a fresh and contemporary way.

We look forward to unveiling our new School Logo at Assembly in Week 2.

Religious Education

Our Lady’s Fun Run, 2019

On Monday we had a wonderful day of focussed sharing and learning around the Liturgical Season of Lent.

We began the day together in prayer and reflected upon being grateful for our loving families, our education and the many resources we have. We also prayed for those in need and for the courage to ‘see’ those who are hurting in our world and respond with action.

Our action took the form of the ‘Fun Run’ and it was so fabulous to see the children running with such great determination, whilst having fun together. We believe that deep learning occurs when we link learning, prayer and action together. It was very exciting to hear comments like, “ During the fun run I was so tired and felt like giving up but I wanted to run for Uganda”. We returned to school tired but happy. The rest of the day was spent sharing our wonderful prayer stations. Each station included a related scripture and a reflection and time of prayer upon how they could become people of great love. A wonderful day was had by all.

We Give thanks!

We conclude our school term with a great deal of gratitude. We have so much to be grateful for. For the learning, friendships and fun. We are grateful for all the hard work of our students and teachers. We are grateful for the opportunities to stand beside Grace Orphanage. We are grateful for the love that we have received from all the children at Grace Orphanage. These children have taught us so much. We are grateful for the work of Ms Nicholson and her work with these children. We are grateful for the generosity of our families in supporting these children. We are grateful for the love and dedication of Mr Fogarty and wish him all the blessings in the world for an amazing trip abroad. We will miss him.
