We are pleased to welcome you all back to what will be, we hope, a far more welcoming term, weather-wise, than Term 1 proved to be. I’m very happy to report that our students have hit the ground running and have come back ready to work, with a great attitude towards their time at school; and also towards one another. We look forward to a successful term and thank you in advance for your support in making this happen. For those of you unaware, our school has transitioned to NAPLAN online for 2022 and our Year 3 and 5 students will be sitting these tests during week 3 and 4 of this term. All aspects of this assessment program will, for the first time at Wyong Public School, be conducted online, with the exception of Year 3 Writing. I’m sure that our Year 3 and Year 5 teachers have prepared our students well, and will be tying up any loose ends as we prepare our students for participation in these assessments.
It was very satisfying on Monday, 25th April, to see the number of Wyong PS students and families who participated in the commemoration service at Wyong Town Park, before representing our school on the ANZAC march down to Club Wyong. We are thankful to the students and staff who gave up their own time to show their respect for all of those who have lost their lives in war and to commemorate the 107th year since the Word War 1 Gallipoli landings at ANZAC Cove. Our students were resplendent in their striking uniforms as they marched and it was fantastic that they chose to share the commemoration of the occasion on behalf of our school; and fitting that they took the opportunity to remember the lives that have been lost in all wars before, within, and since World War 1, by laying a tribute wreath. We would like to express our gratitude to each of our students and staff who attended this solemn, extremely important occasion. Congratulations, we are very proud of you, and grateful to you and your families for giving up your holiday time to represent our school community.
As you’re aware, our P and C held a very successful Mother’s Day Stall and we wish to extend a massive thank you to our fantastic parents and volunteers who helped with the setup of, and selling of gifts at, our stall over two days. Thank you to all of the children who made purchases for their mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers or carers; and, to all of the amazing women in our lives, we hope you enjoyed your gifts and had a lovely day.
