St Mary's Bulletin

Term 2 - Week 6 (7 June, 2019)

From the Principal

Dear St Mary's School Community

Pentecost Sunday

On Sunday, we celebrate Pentecost Sunday in the Catholic Church.  The word ‘Pentecost’ means ‘fiftieth day’ in Greek.  It commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples as tongues of fire.  It also marks the end of the Easter season and is often called the birthday of the Church as it was from this event that the disciples went forward to spread the good news and establish the Church.

Confirmation

It is no coincidence that our Year Six and Year Five students are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday. The effect of the sacrament of Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Spirit as granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost.  Please keep the following students in your prayers as they further their faith journey on Sunday:

Casey Alvaro               Laura Casella                          Baillie Dean                 Ellie Criddle

Jacob Barnett              Vincent McCormack               Mia Barnett                 Makayla Geier

Olumide Onikola

Life-Link Day 2019

Our Life-Link Day on Wednesday was a huge success!  Thank you to Mrs Herbert and our Year Six leaders who led us in a lovely liturgy that explained the work of Life-Link but also made the connection to the image of the Good Shepherd – and our collective responsibility to reach out to those in need in our communities.  Thanks to all the students and staff who wore their pyjamas and got into the spirit of the day!  We raised $ 240.00 .
