Principal's Message

Well done last fortnight to Room 3 who presented a fantastic assembly based around our Social and Emotional program- The Resilience Project! Revisiting and roleplaying how we respond to different situations was entertaining and informative and the overall message of; “In a world where you can be anything, be kind!”, is one we can all use in our everyday interactions.

It has been a very busy couple of weeks at school. A big congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students who have completed NAPLAN online for 2022. We look forward to accessing and sharing the results later in the year. As well as our normal teaching and learning programs, we have had visiting workshops from both T-Ball and soccer whilst our Clontarf Academy hosted their official welcome BBQ and are now running training sessions at school.

As a community, we extend a warm welcome to Simon Lyons who is joining us as the Health and Physical Education teacher for the remainder of the year. We know you will love and enjoy this school as much as we do.

A reminder to all families that next Friday, 3 June, is a Staff Development Day and students are not attending school. Staff will be completing professional learning; particularly around STEM and integrating technology into the classroom.

A large initiative we are currently undertaking as a school is a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) journey. PBS provides a continuum of support to build relationships with students and guide the implementation of evidence-based practices to improve student academic, behaviour and social and emotional learning outcomes. We look forward to sharing more information as we continue this process.

Congratulations again to Room 2 winners of our Attendance cup for this fortnight.

Room 2, it was great to see the you win again.

Mindfulness

This fortnights presentation from
The Resilience Project is all about Mindfulness.

Mindfulness is our ability to be calm and present at any given moment. We practice this by slowing down and concentrating on one thing at a time.

Thousands of studies have proven benefits include reduced stress, reduced rumination, increased memory, increased cognitive function and physical health benefits through improved immunity.

View Part 4 of the series here - Mindfulness

Mindfulness can be practiced through meditation, yoga, flow-states and daily activities such as cooking.

For mental health resources and support information, visit
The Resilience Project’s Support Page.

Room 12: Story Retell

In Room 12 we have been looking at Fairy tales. Some activities we did were retelling a story, sequencing the story, talking about the characters, setting and events that happened in a story.

We listened to the story about Little Red Riding Hood and we retold our favourite parts. Then in Art and Craft we made a pop stick Little Red Riding Hood to use for retelling the story.

Please come and check out our story retell and pop stick Little Red Riding Hood, which are on display in the front office.

Last week we were lucky enough to have Johnathan Hart spend the day with our students learning about Teeball and having fun.

2.    Complete your child or children's details to register them for the challenge.

3.    Let your child select an avatar.  You can register more than one child at a time.

The challenge

In your account you will have access to your 2022 Premier's Reading Challenge where you can:  access your child or children's reading challenge account.

·         find more than 7,000 book titles from our booklist.

·         encourage your child to add a review or 'like' the book.

·         view your child's bookshelf, to see the books you have logged during the challenge.                                                                                                                 ·         track your child's progress in the challenge.
