The Brush Telegraph

Week 1 – Term 3, 2022

Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

Wonderful to see everyone back reenergised, I trust that everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing break ready for our busy Term 3. Welcome to our eight new students that have joined our school community.

EDUCATION WEEK

We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our school, students and learning community as part of Education Week 2022. This year’s theme is ‘Creating futures - education changes lives and celebrates the opportunities available to everyone in NSW public education.

Parents and families are invited to visit our ‘Gallery’ celebrating Education Week. The gallery will be open from 10:15am on Wednesday 3 August. Parents are welcome to collect their children from classrooms and visit the gallery together. We invite parents and families to stay and enjoy lunch with the students from 11:15am.

The canteen will be open for parents to purchase tea/coffee, slices and sausage sandwiches on the day. Students can pre-order sausage sandwiches for their lunch. Order forms will be sent home soon.

The gallery will remain open for the rest of the week, to families unable to attend on the Wednesday. Please feel free to visit over the week.

KINDER ENROLMENTS 2023

Preparation is underway for Kindergarten 2023 orientation days. If you have a child starting Kindergarten next year, please advise the school as soon as possible. Orientation days begin Wednesday 7 September.

COVID-19 UPDATE

It is important that students do not attend school if they are unwell, even if they have tested negative for COVID-19. Rapid antigen tests can produce false negative results and symptoms of other illnesses can also be similar to COVID-19, including flu, the common cold and stomach bugs.

Health advice is that students who are sick should always stay home to rest and recover and avoid putting other students and staff at risk of getting sick.

The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students are paramount at all times. As such, we will continue to closely follow the advice from NSW Health.

RAT (Rapid Antigen Tests) are still available at the school. Please feel free to collect supplies for your family.

School Uniform

At Wingham Brush PS we take pride in our school and we believe that wearing full school uniform helps to promote connection and unity across our school community. The uniform is a big part of belonging and has an impact on student behaviour and attitude.

Our school uniform consists of navy blue shorts, long pants and jumper, a light blue polo shirt and a school navy blue brim/bucket hat. School uniforms can be purchased through the school uniform shop. Hats are available for purchase at the school office. Please ensure all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Manning & Hunter Zone representative jumpers are only to be worn as part of our school sports uniform (Wednesday K-2 or Thursday 3-6).

K/1C Happenings

In term 2, K/1C have been learning factual information about Australian animals. The students have discussed and learnt about what these animals eat, what they look like and where they live. K/1C has written about and drawn kangaroos, koalas, kookaburras and dingoes. In week 10, they made up their own ‘make-believe’ dragon and gave it a name, a description and a habitat. This allowed the students to get creative with their newfound style of writing.
