Dear Parents
On Tuesday our school community came together through prayer and reflection to celebrate All Saints Day. “The Beatitudes” was the featured Gospel reading for the liturgy. Below is reflection I shared with the congregation around ones interpretation of the “Beatitudes” which is one of the most well-known scripture passage of all times.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Happy is the person who realizes that they need a Jesus in their lives because they cannot save themselves, for the kingdom of heaven is their home.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
If you are sad because of bad things that have happened, you can still be content, because Jesus will comfort you.
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the Earth.”
Happy is the person who can control their emotions, for they will be rewarded.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Happy are the people who want to do right and know God more than anything else, for God will give them what they want most.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
Happy are the people who are kind and forgiving to other people, for they will be shown kindness and forgiveness too.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
Happy are the people who not only change their actions and what they do and how they act on the outside, but also change their heart on the inside and how they feel, for they will see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
Happy are the people who work to make peace and good for others, for they will be called children of God. “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
People who are hurt, suffer, or are treated badly because they have done right, can be happy knowing that they will have the kingdom of heaven to look forward to.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
You can be happy when people make fun of you, hurt you or say things that are mean and wrong against you because of Jesus. Be excited and happy because just like the other heroes of the Bible, your reward is going to be great when you get to heaven.
This week we farewell Maryanne Grewcock who has been our acting Financial office since Mrs Ritchie went on leave in early April. Maryanne has performed her role in a most professional and efficient manner over the last six months and has been an asset to our community during her stint with us. Her sense of humour, her positive willingness to work with all members of our school community and her happy and friendly approach to the role and as a member of our staff, has been greatly appreciated by all concerned. We thank Maryanne for taking on the role when “the call” went out to secure a senior financial officer and for the manner in which she undertaken her duties. We wish Maryanne all the best in her future endeavours. We welcome Anna Small who will join our staff next week till the end of next year whilst Mrs Ritchie is on leave.
Please continue to pray for our year three students and their families as they prepare for their First Reconciliation. This is a special time in their lives as they take responsibility for their actions, seeking God’s unconditional love and forgiveness.
Next Friday our year six leaders will join myself and Mrs Wynne at the Remembrance Day Ceremony hosted by the Parramatta RSL. This is a great opportunity for our stage three students to join with their peers from all over the Parramatta Council area to come together to remember the fallen soldiers who served our country through the various theatres of war over the last century. Our teachers and students will also celebrate Remembrance Day at CTK commencing at 11am.
Our students are currently completing their final assessment period for the school year. Teachers over the coming few weeks will be writing reports for Semester two. Reports will be emailed to parents in Week 9 of this term.
Over the next few weeks, our children will be participating in a series of diocesan sporting gala days across a variety of sports. Thanks to Mrs Kelly-Hosking for organising these opportunities for our students and to the parents who have volunteered to manage and transport the teams to the venues. Your time and efforts are most appreciated.
Please be reminded we have a Staff Development Day on Monday 14th November. Any parents needing supervision for their child on this day will need to contact Ambrose. (After School Care) Mobile: 0427 332 364.
Have a great week
