Happy Holidays

What a busy last fortnight we've had!  It's been great having student teachers, Kristie and Nathan, around the classrooms giving us a hand and excelling in their full control of the classroom. The students have also thoroughly been enjoying their singing and piano lessons  with Lisa. Kyle is a arranging guitar and drum teacher to start in Term 4 over the holidays. Students have also enjoyed having Mischa in the OSHC program each day. They've been getting out and about in this beautiful sunshine lately! Thanks to Mischa for umpiring our whole school footy match today and also, we'd like to congratulate her for being in the running for coach of the year! We're proud of you Mischa! I have to thank Mel Bartlett for helping to make today possible as well! She was able to get a bunch of footballs from AFL Victoria that we were able to use in our footy rotations.

While I'm thanking people, I'd like to thank all of our amazing parents and sponsors that made our Big Night Out possible! We were able to raise $5,500 for our school. Particular thanks to Carla Perry, Nic Maher, Mel Bartlett and Sally Leithhead for making the night a success and Cassie Cheffers for her amazing grazing tables!

Towards the end of term the teachers felt that we needed some more positivity flowing through our corridors so we took a jump forward on our SWPBS journey and started trialling our PBS Behaviour Matrix and Acknowledgement System yesterday and today. You may have seen our little slips of paper journey into your homes. This was just a quick trial but we're looking forwward to rolling out a thorough trial in Term 4. The program was explained to the students and they were given the goals to work towards specific Caring, Responsible and Courageous behaviours throughout the end of the week. Each student was given a slip and explicit acknowledgement for their behaviour and at the end of Thursday we announced some VIP's for today's Footy Day. Well done to Scarlett, Isla, Margot, Wade, Harry, and Amira, who were our very first Echnida VIP's.

Thank you, staff, students and parents, for your kind support throughout this busy term! I look forward to seeing you all, happy and refreshed, in a few weeks for our final term.

Footy Day

Today it was footy day and on footy day we, well, do FOOTY! We did lots of fun activities like hand balling, AFL (it’s like fruit salad but with AFL footy teams), kicking the footy, AND a WHOLE SCHOOL GAME OF FOOTY!!! Mischa was an awesome umpire! Sam Buckler kicked the first GOAL of the game! I got to play photographer. I hope you like my photos!

Oh and can’t forget the parade at the start of school! For lunch we had a hot dog or a pie. Money was raised for new footy jumpers for the school. We had LOTS OF FUN!!! Doing footy it was AWESOME!

New Playground - Coming Term 4!!!

Thanks to the amazing people at FRRR, we've got a brand new junior playground coming to us early in Term 4. Thanks to a handful of amazing parents, the space has been prepped and we're already for it's installation. The students were consulted about the colours of our new playground and after a vote between school colours and the colours of the Aboriginal Flag, you can see below the winner. We are currently undergoing some research to find a name for the playground and we'll have a grand unveiling when it's all set to go.

WARNING - There will be more softfall shovelling to get your gloves and rakes ready :)

We went to the Zoo!

Thanks to our magnificent STEM Teacher, Chan, we were lucky enough to visit Melbourne Zoo this week! The whole school piled onto a bus and hit the road on Wednesday morning, ready for a day of exploring and adventure.

The last week of STEM was all about coding! Check out the blog to find out more and see some resources we have for you over the holidays!
