Be Safe - Be Responsible - Be Respectful - Be Your Best

Wednesday 25 May, 2022 - Term 2 - Week 5 - Issue 15

Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank You!

Thank you to the parents who gave up much of their Saturday to assist with the BBQ during election day. It was lovely to see so many people in our beautiful school and it was a great opportunity to catch up with many familiar faces.

Sausage Sizzle – Tomorrow!

The P&C have frozen the remaining sausages and we will be having a sausage sizzle tomorrow for students who bring in money and have notified through Survey Monkey that they would like one. The link to the Survey was sent yesterday via Skoolbag and is available below. Please note the survey closes at 6pm tonight!

District Cross Country

We wish all of our District Cross Country runners every success this Friday as they complete at Willandra. Unfortunately, this has been deemed a non-spectator event due to the inability to access the carpark. We know our competitors will do us proud!

National Reconciliation Week

Our National Reconciliation Week assembly was scheduled for this Friday, although this has now been moved to next Friday, 3 June to avoid a clash with the District Cross Country. Parents are most welcome to join us at 9.45am.

School Photos

A reminder that our school photos will be held next Wednesday, 1 June (Week 6). Individualised order information sheets were sent home with students last week.

This year, MSP will be running a cashless Photograph Day. Parents/carers are requested to order photographs online with MSP Photography using the student’s unique shoot key. Instruction on how to do this is detailed on your child’s order information sheet. However, if you unable to order packages online, a pre-pay package envelope can be collected from the school office. Photographs will be supplied only on a pre-paid basis.

We remind parents that THIS IS NOT A SCHOOL PARENT ONLINE PAYMENT ACTIVITY, payments go directly to MSP Photography. There is no longer any need for parents to send in their child’s order information for individual photos, however, if you are ordering a sibling package, please return the sibling flyer ON SCHOOL PHOTO DAY.  These are given directly to the photographers.

I know they will all look amazing in their full Winter uniform and Year 6 students are invited to wear their Year 6 shirt.

If your child will be absent on School Photograph Day, please contact MSP directly on 4261 3009 to discuss alternative arrangements. Please also contact MSP directly if you have any other enquiries.

Have a great week,

Rod White

JACQUES

"Hello! My name is Jacques and I am five years old.

I have a big sister and she comes to this school, her name is Eloise and she is in Year 4.

At school, I really like having lunch. I also like reading books.

At home, I like to build cubbies with my sister. I sit in there and play my iPad.

When I grow up, I would like to be a Firefighter."

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME

Today all students from K-6 at Tomerong Public School participated in ‘National Simultaneous Storytime’ (NSS).

We read the chosen book for this year ‘Family Tree’ and read it at the exact same time as over two million other participants from around Australia!

The story was enjoyed by all students and they also completed some activities based on the book in class.

NSS is held every year and aims to:

·         promote the value of reading and literacy,

·         promote the value and fun of books,

·         promote an Australian writer and publisher,

·         promote storytime activities in public libraries and communities around the country.

It was wonderful to be involved in such a big event and we look forward to participating next year!
