Watching the news has become confusing for us all as the political differences of opinion between our State and Federal Governments are debated on whether schools should return. As a Catholic school in the state of Victoria we are under the jurisdiction of the State Government and therefore must adhere to Victoria’s Stage 3 restrictions. Our daily case numbers are still low which is encouraging. They prove that our physical distancing measures are working.
Currently there are only four reasons for Victorians to leave their home: food and supplies, medical care and caregiving, exercise, and work or education if necessary. By adhering to our current restrictions, it is hoped that the State of Emergency in Victoria can be lifted after the 11th May and hopefully there can be an eventual return to school prior to the end of Term 2.
Let us hope and pray for our leaders who are charged with the responsibility for our community health that they continue to lead with courage and wisdom in their decision making.
Once again I wish to express my deep gratitude to all in our community for ensuring that our remote learning has been successful. Our parents are amazing in juggling all that they are managing, our staff are dedicated and committed professionals who care deeply for the children and our children are agile, resilient learners who have given their absolute best in a very challenging learning environment. None of us would have been able to achieve what we have without each other. Together we have made a difference!
