SUTTON PUBLIC SCHOOL

June 24th - Week 9

From the Principal

As we are coming to the end of semester one, I want to thank all parents for their continued support. It has been a busy and bumpy semester with student and staff illness and getting back to a new normal. I know we have thoroughly loved having our gates re-open to our parents. It has been marvellous seeing everyone at school assemblies and sporting events.

Thank you to all those who attended our athletics carnival yesterday. Your support is appreciated. It was a wonderful day for all our students. We witnessed some record-breaking performances, amazing team spirit and excellent sportsmanship.

We thank you for meeting with teachers to discuss your child’s progress throughout the semester. Reports will now be sent home with students on Tuesday, 28th June.  Special work folders will be sent home with students on Friday, 1st July.

We congratulate Mr Adam Mitchell (5/6) on the birth of his son Riley on Monday and wish Mr and Mrs Mitchell the very best. In Term 3, Mrs Stephanie Fitzsimons will return to Sutton PS after a semester of leave. Mrs Fitzsimons will work with 5/6M during weeks 1 and 2 of Term 3 until Mr Mitchell returns to school.  She will then take 2S for the remainder of the year as Miss Steele commences her maternity leave.

Congratulations to our newly elected P&C committee. Special mention and thanks to our canteen coordinator Georgie and Shannon for their work in providing canteen each Friday and at our Athletics Carnival. Next term the P&C will be organising volunteers to help at a Bunnings BBQ in Majura, a food stall at the Wamboin Fireworks and our Father’s Day breakfast. The school and P&C will also be working to organise our 150th Day of Celebration to be held on 22nd October. Watch this newsletter and social media for further details of how you can be involved with these activities.

Bus Zone is a No Go Zone

We have noticed parents and their children walking through our bus zone area during afternoon pick up time. This is a no pedestrian area and should not be entered. Doing so impacts the safety of our students.

Parents parking away from the front gate of the school are asked to walk on the opposite side of the road, crossing to the front gate of our school at the designated 'safe crossing' zone.

Pick-up is from the front gate or inside school grounds at the silver seats and totem poles.

Thank you for your cooperation.
