WPS Netball Club News - Round 1, 2019 – let’s play!
Can you believe it? The 2019 Netball season starts tomorrow/Friday for Juniors and on Saturday for NetSetGo! We wish our 20 teams all the best for enjoyable Round 1 games and a great season ahead.
Please note, we play on the first weekend of the school holidays, April 12th & 13th, so please check with your team if players are going to be away, and borrow other WPS players if you can. If your only option is to forfeit, eg, 5 players are away, then this must be done at least a week in advance to your opposition Club Contact (NSNA website, About Us tab).
You can only borrow a player/s from a WPS team numbered HIGHER than your team. If you are borrowing a player you need to note this on your score sheet in the appropriate section. You need to know the borrowed players’ full name, team number and grade, and record these on the score sheet.
Fixtures can be found on the NSNA website. Use ResultsVault tab > Matches > Fixtures & Results > Season 2019, then Select your Grade/Group and hit GO. You’ll need to know your team number.
Please remember we are all bound by various Codes of Conduct for players, spectators and officials. Win, lose or draw, please encourage all WPSNC families to be ‘good sports’. If you come across anyone from our Club or another Club acting contrary to the Codes, please go directly to the Netball rooms (cage) or NSG duty table to ask for help. Also put it in writing to us if you feel it needs to be addressed further.
All Netball and NSG venues are pet free, alcohol free and bike/scooter/skateboard etc free zones.
Uniform
All players must wear the approved WPSNC playing uniform, including black or maroon bike shorts. We remind all netball families that the maroon netball skirt is NOT part of the school uniform and should not be worn to school as part of the girls’ sports uniform. Maroon shorts is the approved school sports uniform.
2019 Umpire Allocations
As in recent years, umpires will be allocated for all Junior teams and we will continue our successful mentoring program. You should by now know your umpire for tomorrow. Please note that each team is responsible for remunerating its umpire to a maximum of $15 per game.
NSNA News
Last weekend NSNA ran their Red Robin umpiring courses. It was great to see both WPSNC players and parents in attendance.
A big thank you to 14 of our lovely U9 players (and their parents) who made a special trip to the indoor courts at WLC on Saturday to play a game of demonstration NetSetGo for the parents learning to umpire NSG. It was a great success.
Also, over the school holidays there are a range of NSU and Nets clinics being held at WLC. Please look on the Norths (NSNA) website or Facebook page for more information.
