Principal’s Report

COVID-19 Update

The Premier announced changes to NSW broader community settings yesterday, including changes to mask wearing in the wider community.

Our current layered
COVID-smart measures including masks and visitors have not changed. Surgical masks continue to be required to be worn indoors for all school staff, volunteers and students in Years 7 and above. Masks are strongly recommended for primary school students.

Families need to register all positive RAT tests on their Service NSW app, enter the school name when prompted in the app and advise the school. Students are not to bring any test to school or come to school if they have received a positive result. If you require additional Rapid Antigen Tests please check in at the front office and collect.

COVID Smart Measures

Footpath Upgrade

Following recent approval by Council, Conex Group Pty Ltd have been engaged to carry out footpath and kerb replacement. This will commence on Monday 28 February in Lane Street and proceed around the school from there. The works will cause some issues re drop off and pick up for the 3 weeks to complete the job. I’m choosing to see it as short-term pain for long term gain.

Swimming Carnival

We dive into our school’s swimming carnival this Wednesday 23rd February at the Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre. We trust the weather will suit and all our primary aged students will be in attendance. All our primary staff will be at the pool to ensure we have enough support for the day. As a result, we won’t have capacity to supervise primary students at school. Many thanks to Mr Dewberry and Mrs Vette-Welsh who have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure the day goes smoothly.

One of our major and ongoing professional learning activities we have in place is HOW2Learn which is a research-based package aimed at increasing our teaching skills and improving outcomes for our students. Each week I will endeavour to propose aspects of mindsets and challenge you to take it into consideration in your role as parents / carers.
