Once again the year has rushed by and I find myself writing a final Principal’s message. The year has been extraordinarily busy but also extremely productive. I am very proud of our students and the way they have worked so hard to achieve some amazing results this year. Thank you to our amazing staff and wonderful parents and volunteers for all your efforts in 2022
The year has culminated in the Presentation Day last Friday. Congratulations to all our award winners and to our new 2023 Leadership team of Joshua Murray (Captain), Kye Welsh (Vice Captain) and school leaders Isabella Griffin, Grace Seddon, Chase Stewart and Eva Greenaway. We look forward to working with these students in the year to come.
There are a few staff changes occuring in the new year. Firstly. Mrs Bath will be leaving us after 8 years to take up a position in the Great Lakes Network of schools. Thank you, Mrs Bath, for your outstanding commitment to the students of WPS, and to our school. Students, staff and parents will surely miss you. Mr Congahan will also be leaving at the end of the year and will be replaced by Mrs Sally Armstrong who will arrive in the new year. Mrs Curtis (or Miss Kerry to the students) will also be leaving for a position at Lansdowne PS. Good luck to all of you.
Mr Paul McLeod our General Assistant has been at the school for 22 years but has made the decision to retire. Thank you for being a part of our school. We wish you and your family health and happiness in your retirement.
There is one teacher, however, that I would like to make special mention of. Mrs Williams will be taking leave from the end of this year with a view to retiring in the future. Mrs Williams has been at Wingham Public School for 35 years. Many of our current parents were also taught by Mrs Williams. During this time Mrs Williams has been a dedicated member of staff who has passionately enhanced the educational journey of hundreds of students. She has inspired young, beginning teachers and influenced experienced teachers with her wealth of knowledge. We all wish Mrs Williams the very best in the next stage of her life. She will be truly missed by the Wingham Public School community of parents, staff and students. Congratulations Mrs Williams, on a stellar career.
I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope all our students and staff enjoy a relaxing well-earned holiday and I look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2023.
