SUTTON PUBLIC SCHOOL

June 17th - Week 8

From the Principal

The Sutton Public School Parent and Citizens Association held the AGM for 2022 last night. I thank all those who attended both in person over ZOOM. We thank our 2021/2022 Executive Committee for the wonderful work they have carried out keeping our association connected and continuing through the COVID pandemic.  Thank you to Stuart Whitten, Suzette Benson, Jen Lance Nadia McCarthy, Hayley Nicholls and Georgina Bills.  All your efforts are recognised and appreciated.

Elections were held following all executive committee positions being declared vacant.  We now welcome our new Executive Committee for 2022/2022 and wish them well.  The general meeting which took place after the AGM highlighted how busy we will be bringing forward some great opportunities to work together and support each and every student in our school throughout Semester 2. For a start we can look forward to the continuation of our great canteen lunches and being involved with a Bunnings BBQ, Father’s Day Breakfast, the Wamboin Bonfire evening and our 150th Open Day.

School Assembly

Our next assembly is to be held on Tuesday 21st June from 2:40pm in the school hall.  We look forward to welcoming members of our Sutton Rural Fire Service who will provide a presentation to students and attending parents about winter safety.

Bus Zone is a No Go Zone

We have noticed parents and their children walking through our bus zone area during afternoon pick up time. This is a no pedestrian area and should not be entered. Doing so impacts the safety of our students.

Parents parking away from the front gate of the school are asked to walk on the opposite side of the road, crossing to the front gate of our school at the designated 'safe crossing' zone.

Pick-up is from the front gate or inside school grounds at the silver seats and totem poles.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Bus Safety Reminder

A link to guidelines for managing student behaviour on buses is below. We ask all families of students who travel on our school bus services to remind their children of the following key points.

Students will:

• travel free from verbal and physical abuse or any form of bullying, intimidation and harassment

Consequences for breach of the Code of Conduct:

• depending on the degree of misbehaviour, students may have their pass suspended or may

be refused travel on the bus for a period of time determined by the bus operator in accordance with these Guidelines

• heavier penalties may apply to students involved in dangerous or group misbehaviour

• school Principals have the right to take additional disciplinary action against a student under the school’s policies related to student behaviour for any breach of the Code of Conduct
