From The Principal

Dear parents and families,

In this, our final newsletter of 2022, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you.

This year has presented more challenges than most, yet throughout it all we have felt your support and your kindness.

COVID has book-ended our year. We had the staggered start for classes in February and now, in December, many staff and students have become ill during the next ‘wave’. Throughout the year, we’ve had to cancel our camp, endure bouts of illness and struggle through a shortage of relief teachers. Yet through it all, you have not complained; you have given us your understanding.

In our darkest days, after the loss of our beloved Nettie, we felt like you wrapped around us. You understood our grief and we came together to support your children.

This week, there have been many generous gifts given to staff and they have been deeply appreciative. However, it has been the heartfelt notes, the thoughtful words and the lovely cards that have really had the biggest impact and have touched us all deeply.

So, I wish you all a joyous Christmas and hope that you are able to celebrate with family and friends. I hope also that you are able to take some time off from your own busy schedules to relax and recharge and spend time with your delightful children.

We look forward to seeing you all next year.

Gail Holland

Principal

Term 4 Class Report

Year 3/4 Class

Wow! What a term – and year – it has been! We have been so busy in the year 3/4 class. The students have completed lots of interesting learning and shown growth in all areas.

This term, we have enjoyed visits from the SA Police and had a workshop on cricket, as well participating in sports day and the end of year concert. I am so proud of the effort the students put in for our concert item! We have been using the ‘Evolution of Dance’ video all year as a brain break and I had a crazy thought that we could somehow perform it for our concert. Bringing it all together involved a lot of team work, negotiation and challenging dance moves! The students stepped up and put on a great show!

Amongst all the extra-curricular happenings, we have also managed valuable learning along the way! The class enjoyed exploring with mass, capacity and volume earlier in the term and more recently, we delved into fractions of collections. We had fun exploring with Lego and Unifix blocks to help visualize and understand the concept. In English we have explored Australian poetry and learnt about various poetic devices used in creating poetry. To end the year with some fun, the students have written and performed short, silly Christmas themed stories to each other. They were very amusing! In HASS with Mrs Ellis, the students have built amazing Indigenous shelters using natural materials.

Well done on an amazing term and year kids!
