Week eight already! It is hard to believe that we will be saying farewell to our Year 6 students and welcoming our new Kindies.
We have presentation day happening on Wednesday 9th December. This year will see the event run very different. The presentation will be delivered in two assembly time slots. Kindergarten to Year two will commence at 10.00am and Year Three to Six at 11.30am. As we are still experiencing COVID 19 restrictions we have to limit guest numbers. If your child has been nominated for an award you would have received an invitation for one parent only to attend and no younger siblings. It is important that you have indicated that you are coming on the day so that we can ensure we can social distance our guests. The Acceptance to attend deadline was Tuesday 1st December. We will be live streaming the presentation to enable everyone is able watch and enjoy. We will text this link to all our families next week.
For the remainder of the term other events that will be occurring, our Annual County Fair to be held on the 11th December. This is an event run by the Year 6 students as an end of year fundraiser. A note has been sent home for parents informing them of the event and how it will be run. Again we have needed to accommodate the restrictions imposed. So we will have the K-2 participation at 11.00am till 12.10pm and
Years 3-6 from 12.35pm till 1.45pm. Please have your child return the note with their $5.00 no later than 10th December.
Our final big event will be saying farewell to our Year 6 students. This will happen on the last day of the school term Wednesday 16th December from 1.45pm. A letter has been sent out to these students families.
Road Safety
When parents and carers are dropping off and picking up their children during school times, please ensure that you walk with with your child/ren to the school side of the road. The same applies when collecting students after school. Please meet them on the school side. Mornings and afternoons are extremely busy with traffic around the school.
Canteen Closed
Goulburn South will not operate the school canteen for the remainder of the year. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you are unable to provide lunch for your child, please contact the office on the morning and we will endeavour to provide a sandwich.
COVID 19
Students who are unwell - In accordance with advice from NSW Health, parents and carers are reminded NOT to send children to school if they are unwell, even if they have the mildest flu-like symptoms. If a student presents to the office unwell, a member of staff will take the students temperature and contact the family or emergency contacts to come and collect the student from school.
NSW Health has requested that schools encourage anyone who is unwell or has even mild flu-like symptoms, to arrange to be tested through their local medical practitioner or one of the COVID 19 clinics.
Students and staff with flu-like symptoms will need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative COVID-19 test result and be symptom-free before being permitted to return to school.
Students who do not undertake a COVID-19 test result will not be permitted to return to school for a 10 day period. Additionally, they must be symptom-free for at least 3 days prior to returning to school.
Students who have seasonal allergic rhinitis or another condition that presents similarly to flu-like symptoms are still required to get tested for COVID-19 and return a negative test result. Where their symptoms continue beyond 10 days, students should provide documentation from their GP confirming their symptoms are typical for their condition. If the student develops new or changed symptoms, they should get tested for COVID-19.
COVID Safe Summer Pack
As we come closer to the end of the school year, we’d like to extend our thanks to you, our parent community, for demonstrating so much resilience and patience towards the circumstances we faced together. We strived together to get the best outcomes for our students despite the pandemic and you have stayed by our side the entire time. Thank you again.
We will be sending a COVID-safe summer pack to each student before the year ends. The contents of the pack will help students maintain healthy hygiene practices and to stay COVID-safe during the school holidays.
Here are some quick tips to help you and your families stay COVID-safe during the school holidays:
- Encourage your children to use their packs whenever they leave the house
- Meet outdoors whenever possible and wear sunscreen
- Meet in small groups
- Encourage good hand hygiene practices and remind your children to cough and sneeze into their elbow
- Keep up-to-date with the latest health information by monitoring https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19
From all of us at Goulburn South Public, be safe and enjoy the school holidays.
