Hi there!
Welcome to the first official edition of the Flat newsletter for 2023. We have got the year off to a good start and the classes are already beginning to feel focused and settled. We are hitting the ground running thanks to our updated tracking and monitoring systems which allow us to keep a really good eye on where the kids are at with their learning and what their next steps need to be. We are also about to kick off our range of enrichment, intervention, learning and wellbeing programs. Claudia Peoples will be on site two days a week this year, working with kids in our horticulture program; Chrisna Van Zyl our PCW will be again be supporting student and family engagement and wellbeing through a range of programs and activities on Monday and Tuesday each week; and Indra Benson our music specialist teacher has returned to the Flat this year and as well as teaching music and the choir, she will also be working with small groups on a drumming program aimed at building positive social connections, resilience, teamwork and peer relations. We will be sending letters out to the families of participating students soon and are happy to respond to any questions about the inclusion activities.
Our Class Parent Forums kicked off last night and we had some good attendances at both meetings held so far. See below to check the schedule for the upcoming meetings and do your best to come along if you can – they are a great way to connect with other families and staff and build your knowledge about how things will work in your child’s class in 2023. We also will have a free crèche available for your children if you need care to attend the meetings. Just call the office to book a spot.
The upcoming meetings:
Room 12 (Jodie Hobbs) - Wednesday 8th February, 5pm to 6pm
Room 13 (Linda Macera) - Wednesday 8th February, 6pm to 7pm
Room 5 (Amy Czernich-Pearce) - Monday 13th February, 6pm to 7pm
Room 6 (Aaron Kinnear & Karyn Rusby) - Monday 13th February, 5pm to 6pm
Room 7 (Jackson Roberts) - Tuesday 14th February, 6pm to 7pm
Room 8 (Katrina Munzberg & Shane Rayner) - Tuesday 14th February, 5pm to 6pm
Make sure you check the diary dates for upcoming events and pencil them into your calendars. Also, keep an eye on the newsletter in week 4, as we will hopefully be confirming a number of key dates for the year, including pupil free days, end of year concert etc.
Cheers
Josh, Tonya and The Flat Pack
