Principal's Report

150th Celebrations

It's time to celebrate our birthday! Over the past few weeks, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed talking to ex students and staff and looking through past photos. It’s impossible to forget the rich history of our school and nor should it be forgotten, because its what makes Kangaroo Valley School what it is.

While this year, we are actually celebrating our 151st birthday, it's a long awaited event that has been years in the planning and I would like to thank everyone for their dedication and support to ensure we have a successful day on Saturday.

I would like to thank Trudie, our P&C president for her leadership and co-ordination of the event. This day has required a huge amount of work and I am so grateful that you have taken on this massive job to lead all of our volunteers and co-ordination of stalls! There is so much happening behind the scenes to make the day happen.

I would also like to thank Brad for quietly working behind the scenes on making our school look absolutely amazing, not just for the day of our celebration, but to make our school more enjoyable for our students and staff each day. Thank you Brad for the countless early mornings, late afternoons and weekends that you have been working away on school grounds and outdoor learning spaces.

I would also like to acknowledge Mrs Margaret Barton for her dedication and the additional workload which she has taken on to support the 150th celebrations. Her work to prepare the memorabilia setup in the hall as well as managing everything else to do with the daily running of the school has seen her working long hours for the past few weeks. Her expertise, knowledge and support of the teaching principal role is extremely valued. Thank you Mrs Barton!

We have so many people volunteering their time on the day as well as countless hours of preparation in the lead up to make the day special. I would like to thank all of our parents and community members for all the extra time and support you have shown our school in the final week of preparations to get ready for the big day.

I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child and our school is so fortunate to have the unwavering support of the most amazing community.

Father's Day Stall

We will be holding a Father's Day stall this Thursday 1st September in the school canteen. Items will be available from $2.

Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival

Each year Kangaroo Valley Public School have the opportunity to perform at the Folk Festival (15 October). This year Mrs Gripper will be supporting students to perform songs we have been learning at school. We will be learning songs to perform as a whole school, as well as a song from the KV Songbirds (School Choir). After these performances, we would like to showcase the musical talents of our KVPS students to fill our dedicated school time slot on the main stage. These students should register their interest with Mrs Gripper and begin practicing. Mrs Gripper will hold the first audition today (Tuesday 30th August) to select students who are dedicated to showcasing their musical talents. If you missed the audition due to illness, please see Mrs Gripper to reschedule your audition.

There will be two options

 -pavers with text only, and

- pavers with a hand drawn picture*

To reduce our administration at the stall on the day of the event – we are encouraging the KVPS school community to make their purchase ahead of Sept 3rd.

*Hand Drawn pavers can be paid for prior the 3rd September, however, the template will only be available to draw on, at the event.
