More than 60 cadets went on a bivouac at the start of the Term break, which was seen as a great highlight to these students, and particularly to the Year 12 cadets, for whom it is their final biv, good weather and a great array of activities were spoken of in glowing terms. The biv was supported this year by several external personnel who congratulated our cadets on their level of performance. And in further cadet news, it is wonderful to share the news that Naveen and Maddie have both been accepted in to the Officer Selection Board at ADFA; a Duntroon future awaits them. Penny will be undertaking her final hurdles for Officer Training in the next Term break. So, with three potential students headed for ADFA from the Class of 2019, we should applaud these students who have benefitted immensely from their Cadet experience at Pittwater House.
In what seemed to be a lightning fast Term break, there were many of our students and Staff engaged in school activities. Our cadets under the leadership of Cpt McClean deserve prime focus. As always, their presence at ANZAC commemorations across the beaches is both applauded and recognised as profound community service. With the addition of the Avalon Service this year, Pittwater House supported four services on ANZAC day in addition to those at the War Vets and Glenaeon that are held in the days leading up to 25 April. It is deeply moving to attend these events and even more so when our students perform the special rituals on the day, including the provision of the Catafalque Guard, and presenting the Address. With our Band playing at the Brookvale Service, there was further acknowledgement that this day plays in our community. I would hope that all in our community will join me in acknowledging and thanking all those students who performed particular duties at each of the services.
