Brrrrr, with winter truly upon us, our students have braved the cold to continue quality learning and playing amongst the beautiful fallen autumn leaves. Glendale East Public School is always full of adventure and laughter, a great place to be.
National Reconciliation Week
Last week our Aboriginal leaders led a Reconciliation week assembly. These students spoke with confidence and passion and are to be congratulated for their inspiring leadership. The whole school listened intently about the importance of Reconciliation week. This week across classrooms, our students are engaging in Reconciliation week activities centred on this year’s Reconciliation theme ‘Be Brave, Make Change’.
Note day – Thursdays
Thursday will be GEPS’s designated note day.
Starting next week (Monday 13th June), we will be implementing a note day, where parents can expect to receive all notes regarding whole school events and information. These notes will come out as printed hard copies as well as via SeeSaw. A single post each Thursday via Seesaw will contain all the notes for that week, please just swipe through to ensure all information is received. We will also be uploading all notes to our school website to ensure multiple avenues of receiving relevant information. Having a designated note day will hopefully make receiving information from our school a little easier for families.
We understand that at times multiple notes are required to be sent home, therefore, to make things a little easier, from next week, all notes that require permission via a signature or money to be sent in will be printed on blue paper. This means if you are rummaging through your child’s bag and there are multiple notes, you’ll know the blue ones are required to be sent back to school.
Of course, there may be times where information such as urgent notifications are necessary to be sent out on other days, however, for the majority, Thursday will be the day.
School Website
We have recently revamped our school webpage to ensure it is up to date and relevant for all families. This is an ongoing project, but please jump on and have a look, we have added photos from past 2022 events. https://glendalee-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/
Online payments
A reminder that as society continues to become cashless, online payments are our preferred method of payment for all school related expenses, both big and small. Please visit our school website and click the ‘Make a Payment’ tab in the top right-hand corner of the page. If you experience any issues, our office team are always happy to help.
Volunteering at school
We love having volunteers help out at our school, and we are exceptionally lucky to have many who have supported our school over many years.
Families who have children at Glendale East Public School are exempt from requiring a paid Working With Children Check number, however, there are still documents that require signing and proof of identity that we require. Before volunteering in our classrooms or canteen, please ensure you have had a chat with our office team first. It is a very easy process that our office team are happy to help with. This is all about keeping our students at GEPS safe, therefore, it is very important that this is done correctly.
Kindergarten 2023
We have confirmed our dates for 2023 Kindergarten transition and information will be going out to all families very soon. If you know anyone who is intending on sending their children to our great school, please encourage them to contact our office to ensure they don’t miss out on any sessions or information.
Clarence Avenue afternoon pick up
We are lucky to be supported by neighbours on all 4 sides of our school site. This is fantastic as they keep an eye on our school at night and during school holidays. Recently though, we have had a few frustrated neighbours reporting people parking over driveways, particularly on Clarence Avenue. Please be vigilant to follow all rules when parking of an afternoon, especially that of not parking across driveways. Clarence Avenue is also very narrow, so it is vital that all road rules are followed to ensure the safety of our students. We have had reports of people being late to work as they are unable to leave at school pick up time due to this problem.
