From the Principal

SASS Appreciation Week

This week is SASS (School Administrative and Support Staff) Recognition Week, a wonderful opportunity to express our appreciation and gratitude for the important role our SAS staff play in our school community.

Our Office staff, GA and our SLSOs are an essential part of Eleebana Public School. Whether it is working in our Offices managing  finances, communication and administration; or in classrooms with our children, supporting their learning and wellbeing; tending to children when they are hurt or unwell; organising community events; or maintaining and caring for school grounds and buildings - their work is invaluable.

So on behalf of our school, our teachers, students and community I would like to publicly acknowledge and thank Kellie, Sue, Sally, Nadine, Barbara, Steve, Mandy, Jan, Justin, Julie, Rebecca, Tanya, Tracie, Jane, Denise and Cathy. Thank you for everything you do!

UPDATE YOUR STUDENT AND FAMILY INFORMATION

Notes will come out this week asking every family to update their student and family information. These will be on separate notes -blue notes for student information need to be completed for each individual child, while the cream note for family information needs only one response per family.

We are asking everyone to please complete these forms, they are essential to ensuring our records are current. Changes have been made to the way that NSW government schools are funded. One of the significant changes relates to the information that we receive from you regarding your own occupation and educational level. We need this information to be as accurate as possible so that our funding reflects our school community. Although you would have given our school office this information when you enrolled your child/children please update this information for us again in the fields below and return to the school office as soon as possible.

This is an important way that you can support the quality of your child’s learning programs. We appreciate your prompt response with this.

Scholastic Book Club

A huge thank you to everyone who purchased Book Club from Issue Five. The orders began to be distributed to classes on Friday afternoon, however we are still waiting on a small number to arrive. Please let us know if anything was missing from your order or there were any other issues so we can contact Scholastic. Issue Six catalogues have also started to be distributed. These orders are due back by Wednesday 11th September.

Reading is my Secret Power!

For adults and children alike, reading can be a powerful secret in improving the quality of your life. Each week I will be including a small snippet of how reading is powerful in our newsletter; a thought to ponder and discuss!
*Reading Reduces Stress* When in the flow of a good book, perhaps with a cup of tea, there are few better ways to momentarily halt the stresses of life. Hold on tight to this feeling!

P&C Update

With another productive P&C meeting held last week, we are pleased to update everyone that we:
  • Financially supported our schools Living Smart Festival Garden Bed entry – be sure to head to Speers Point Park on 28th September, to vote for the EPS garden bed. We are looking forward to the garden being permanently housed at school following the festival. Thanks to Mrs McCloy for her efforts in coordinating this.
  • Provided funds to upgrade our school veggie patch – including the purchase of a water pump, dripper system and new composite bins. There are lots of kids enjoying helping Mrs Phillips out in the garden during break time.
  • Provided recognition and support to our 13 fantastic State and Regional Sporting representatives. Well done everyone!
  • Assisted the senior band - by providing funds to cover the cost of the bus for their upcoming trip to Sydney for the annual State competition. Good luck band members, we know you will do us proud.
  • Finalised the school uniform policy!
  • Finalised the list of the proposed new home readers and class literacy resources for our renewal project. We are very excited to contribute the funds from this year’s Fair to ensuring that our children have access to the most current decodable, phonics-based literacy resources. A huge thank you to Mrs Burtenshaw and Mrs Wester for all their efforts with this significant piece of work.

  • Thank you to the whole school community for your continued support of P&C led fund raising events, that make these types of projects possible. We still have lots more to come…... Don’t forget this week is Father Stall Week – Senior School - Tuesday, Junior School - Wednesday!

Canteen News

Thank you to everyone who has helped us this term – we truly value your time and appreciate the help.

If anyone can lend a hand for just 2.5 hours in the morning, we would really love the help :-)

We need 2-3 people each day to help prepare lunches.

No experience necessary!

How about these awesome little lunchbox sausage rolls! Delicious and Easy, plus you can make them with any mince and add id veggies like zucchini, broccoli or sweet potato – and the kids won’t even know

Have you seen the 4 ingredients recipes??? Have a look for yourself here:
