St Mary's Bulletin

Term 1 - Week 7 (20 March, 2020)

From the Principal

Dear St Mary's School Community

Sacramental Program

The St Mary’s Sacramental program began last week with a Parent Information Session led by Fr Andrew and Mrs Riethmuller.  The program is temporarily suspended due to COVID19.

Interschool Swimming Carnival

Thank you for your understanding in regard to the cancellation of the Interschool Swimming Carnival.  Thank you to Mrs Claire Kudas for organising the sausage sizzle lunch.  Refunds for St Mary’s students went home on Tuesday.

Expressions of Interest

We have the opportunity to be able to offer the St Mary’s students violin tuition on a Monday.  This would complement the other external music tuition offered by Sam McDonald.  To be able to gauge whether or not it is viable to go ahead, could I ask that if you are interested in your child/children learning the violin that you email me (adriana.coniglio@cewa.edu.au) by no later than Friday, 27 March 2020.  Violin would be open from Pre-primary to Year Six.

Ladies High Tea

Thank you all for your patience while our High Tea Committee have been discussing what to do about our scheduled event on the 4th of April.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, (which are out of our control) with the Coronavirus and after much contemplating, we regret to advise that the High Tea will be postponed!

We are sure that you can understand that this decision has been hard, after months of organisation and only 2 and a half weeks to the event it saddens us that this decision had to be made. We do not wish to put anyone at risk and we truly hope that you can understand why this decision was made.

As we are unable to advise of a date as we are unable to tell how long this situation will be around it is best that we refund your tickets. Tickets will be refunded through Trybooking so please be patient while we go through this process. You will be refunded the full ticket price except 50c per ticket due to the booking fee!

If you have any queries regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact me. We thank you for your understanding and we look forward to setting a new date in the near future!

So hold onto those dresses and heels and stay tuned for a New Date and ticket purchasing information once things return to normal.

Thank you for your understanding, stay safe and healthy. We look forward to seeing you all soon.

NAPLAN 2020

Education Ministers met today and decided that NAPLAN will not proceed in 2020. The NAPLAN test window was scheduled to be held from 12 - 22 May 2020., with the CPT (co-ordinated practice test) scheduled for Monday.  Thank you to Mrs Riethmuller who has already done a lot of background work to ensure that St Mary's was ready for Monday and beyond.

Learning Journeys

Learning Journeys are an informal, student led form of reporting. They are an opportunity for students to show their parents their achievements and reflect on their learning. Your child will act as your ‘tour guide’ as they proudly share their knowledge, skills and experiences from Term 1 with you. Parents (along with their child) have the opportunity to come along anytime between 3.20pm - 6.00pm on Thursday, 2 April.    Teachers will be present in the classrooms but are not available for one-to-one consultation or reporting to parents. If you wish to meet with the teacher to discuss your child’s academic progress, please schedule a meeting with them at a later date.  Parents will be responsible for the supervision and safety of their child(ren) during this time. This is also particularly relevant to younger siblings who need to be supervised so that they remain respectful of both the classroom environment and the property of all students in the class.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families,

Ms Adriana Coniglio

Principal

Let us Pray

Lord Jesus, just as you healed the blind man and restored his sight.

Help us to see you in our lives.

Amen.
