Reflection

St Francis is well known for his commitment to poverty, simplicity and peace. During the fifth crusade, he travelled to the holy lands spending considerable time in dialogue with the Sultan of Egypt. This famous prayer first appeared during the First World War however, scholars do not believe that St Francis wrote it. It was found written on the reverse of a holy card of St. Francis by an anonymous author, hence its association with the great Saint of Peace.The Peace Prayer of St. Francis by an anonymous Norman c. 1915 A.D.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,Where there is hatred, let me sow love;where there is injury, pardon;where there is doubt, faith;where there is despair, hope;where there is darkness, light;where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;to be understood as to understand;to be loved as to love.For it is in giving that we receive;it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

Greg's Message

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Easter break and are feeling refreshed and ready for term two. On the first day of this term we held a special Anzac Day service in the hall, with lots of singing, praying and reflecting.

LEGO

Do you have any unused Lego at home? If so, would you like to donate the lego to school? We are commencing our Lego club in term two, and any “gifts” would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

SOCCER CLINICS

Courtesy of funding from Sporting Schools, all of our students participated in a soccer clinic last Wednesday. There will be more clinics held over the next three Wednesdays. The clinics are being run by Football Australia.

Our annual Scholastic Bookfair is scheduled for Thursday 11 May - Tues 16 May.  The Bookfair assists in the acquisition of new books for our library via a commission received from sales.  It has been wonderfully supported by our school community in the past and is always popular with students.

We will need the help of a team of volunteers as sales can get rather hectic, particularly in the first couple of sessions.  If you are available to assist on the sales register or in any other capacity during the session times detailed below, I would love to see you join the team.  There is an online sign up sheet available through volunteers sign up.  Please click on the following web link (or copy it into your web browser if clicking doesn't work) to go to the signup sheet:

volunteersignup.org/QYR99

To sign up, just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do.

Just a reminder that if parents cannot get into school during the allocated sales times the option of ordering is available online.  Each student completes a wishlist during their preview session on Thursday 11th May and takes it home to their parents.  If you wish to purchase but cannot attend the in person sales, please fill in the back of the wish list form with your online payment receipt details and return this to school with your child so we can supply the item ordered from the bookfair stocks.

I look forward to seeing you all at the fair in a couple of weeks.  If you have any queries please contact me at the email address below.

Sales times are as follows:
