Dear Parents/Caregivers
It is so lovely to see the sun out again, allowing the students to play outside. Please remember to label all hats and clothing with your child’s name. If your child does come home with the incorrect clothing item, please ensure it is returned the next day so our students are all in the correct uniform.
I am sure you have noticed the display boards up on the wall near the library. Please check these regularly as there is information on a variety of issues that may well affect you and/or be things that we would like you to do to support us at home.
We are nearing the end of term and I would like to remind parents that you need to provide a note for any absences your child has from school. If you are going on holidays early, please let us know in writing and let us know when your child will return.
I would like to thank Mr Pham and staff involved in the Interschool Carnival organisation and practise that the students have been doing. I wish them well for next week.
On Friday 11th September, all staff participated in the Aussie Optimism Training. This program teaches students how to identify, manage and deal with their emotions. It is going to be run school wide and is progressive from year to year so students continue to be upskilled in the necessary social skills to enable them to be positive, productive social citizens in the community. Staff loved the positive approach that it takes and how relevant the skills were for each year level. We hope that as the students learn these skills, they will be fostered and supported in the home environment, to help us all be the best we can be. Staff are very excited to implement this program.
It is lovely to see so many parents coming to school in the afternoon to collect their children, sitting and chatting to each other. Just as we encourage our students to be brave and mix with students they don’t know, we would like to see parents getting to know each other too. Perhaps set yourself a challenge to meet someone new every week. This is advantageous in so many ways and helps our community stay safe. Having play dates with students from school is a great way to get to know other people, practice social skills for your children and gives them a connection with students at school.
I was particularly pleased with our Life Long Learner award winners this week as there was an equal representation of academic achievement and positive social skills being displayed by our students. Well done to all of them. It was awesome to see so many students receiving certificates.
Cheers
