PRINCIPAL'S LETTER

HSC 2019

I offer a warm congratulations to the 2019 Year 12 cohort whose results have been exceptional, and have come after 13 years of schooling and commitment to excellence.

Rebekah Nehme has achieved the 2019 Catherine McAuley Dux honour, with an ATAR of 99.35. Isabella Whittaker, the winner of the 2018/2019 WSU Academy Scholarship,  was named on the NESA All Rounder List for achieving Band 6 in ten units of study.

Congratulations to Rebekah and Isabella on these remarkable achievements.

I would like to thank the students for their dedication to their studies. I would also like to offer a sincere thanks to the teachers of these students; their professionalism and commitment to their students makes for a successful school experience.

We look forward to hearing more about the Class of 2019 as they continue their journeys towards what will be exciting futures for each of them. We know that, as Mercy women, they will continue to ‘accept, respect and embrace’ all the opportunities that come their way.

Westmead Catholic Community Advisory Panel: Call for Expressions of Interest

Thank you for your participation in Westmead Catholic Community information sessions over the last two months. As mentioned at these sessions, a Community Advisory Panel will soon be established providing a further opportunity to actively participate in shaping the future of this exciting project.

The panel will bring together a range of people from our Parish, schools and broader community to discuss and provide guidance to the Diocese on options for the Westmead Catholic Community. Applications are open until 23 December. For more information or to apply for the advisory panel, please visit http://westmeadcatholiccommunity.org or call the Catholic Education Diocese on (02) 9840 5600.

Thank you and Merry Christmas

2019 at Catherine McAuley has been a year of wonderful achievements and celebrations, amidst a time of significant change. Our school is a very successful one, and this is because we are such a strong and committed community.

We would like to thank our students for being the gracious, merciful women they are, and for striving for higher things in their personal, social and academic lives. We thank you, their parents and carers, for working in partnership with us  to provide the best education for your daughters. Our collaboration in their education is critical to their success. Finally, I offer my deepest appreciation for the staff of Catherine McAuley Westmead for their expertise, generosity and dedication to their students. Their work drives school and community success.

Finally, I wish you all the warm blessings of Christmas, and pray that you find peace in the love and generosity of the season and space to rest in the company of your family over the holiday.

Thank You to Our Outgoing P&F President

Mrs Angela Franulovic has served on the school’s Parents & Friends Committee for the past seven years and has been the P&F President for the past two years. Prior to becoming P&F President, Mrs Franulovic was the School Parent Representative Council (PRC) member for three years. She has now decided it is time to hand over to another parent and the school would like to thank Mrs Franulovic for her dedicated service.

Mrs Franulovic has given up her time to attend many P&F meetings over the years, organising a number of guest speaker events to inform parents, attended many Opening School Masses, School Awards Ceremonies, Open Days, Mercy Days and helped to welcome our new parents each year at the New Parents Welcome Evening. Mrs Franulovic could always be found at these events with a large welcoming smile and often a balloon or P&F flyer.

On behalf of the school community we thank you Mrs Franulovic for your time and service! We also welcome our incoming P&F President Ms Natasha Swan.
