Rural Access Gap program
From Term 3 2022, the Rural Access Gap program has supported schools in moving their files to a secure online storage platform so they can access their files anywhere, anytime. The NSW Government-funded program has partnered with rural, remote and regional schools to improve schools’ digital capabilities and capacities. The program is addressing acute digital needs of rural, remote and regional schools such as improved connectivity, upgraded learning spaces, better access to students’ data and education resources and reduced administration. The aim is to close that gap between the rural and metropolitan areas and greatly improve the educational outcomes of students in rural, regional, and remote areas. Havenlee School migrated to the new platform last weekend. The staff are getting used to the new system, but are seeing the benefits of being able to access all documents from any computer in any location.
Demountable refurbishment
You would have received a Skoolbag notification earlier in the week regarding the removal of asbestos from one of our demountables this weekend. This is in response to the ongoing issues of a leaking roof and mould in the Blue Gum classroom. As a result, Blue Gum classroom is being gutted, having a roof replacement, a toilet being installed in the storeroom, new linoleum in wet areas and all internal walls being repainted. Although this will be disruptive, it will mean a lovely fresh Blue Gum classroom early next term.
