From the Leadership Team

End of Term 1!

Can you believe we are already at the end of Term 1?

This term has been filled with many wonderful experiences and celebrations for our learners and families... RAA Road Safety Sessions, Parent Teacher Connection Meetings, R-5 Water Safety Sessions, Sports Day and Yr 6/7 Aquatics tomorrow ,  just to name a few of our 'big events'. We have really enjoyed watching each of our learners participate in these events at their level and in their own way as well as growing in confidence as their skills knowledge and understandings improve each day.

We look forward to our learners celebrating end of term by wearing casual clothes and bringing along their gold coin donation. All money will be donated to Kickstart, who fund our breakfast program.

Next term we are looking forward to continuing to celebrate our learning with special events - we already have some special visits and excursions planned to enhance the teaching and learning programs.

Our staff also begin their holidays tomorrow and to allow our teachers time to rest and rejuvenate, we remind you that they will not be responding to emails, Dojo or Facebook messages  until we return next term. Our office will remain open next week, however we will be closed from 19th -27th April.

We hope that you a enjoy happy, healthy and restful break and look forward to seeing you all back on Tuesday 27th April.

  • the student has a significant intellectual disability and/or significant co-existing conditions which severely limit capacity to participate in the tests.

Parents/caregivers may withdraw their child from the NAPLAN tests for philosophical or religious reasons.

Withdrawal and exemption forms

Forms must be completed and signed by the parent/carer for a child to be withdrawn or exempted from NAPLAN testing. The forms and further information about NAPLAN are available at www.education.sa.gov.au/naplan or from the school.

Sports Day 2021

Thank You for helping us to make Sports Day great..

It was fantastic to have families back on site and participating in our Sports Day. Having a crowd cheering certainly contributes to the positive community feel and overall success of the day. We acknowledge how proud and excited children are when they have a special adult watching and cheering them on as they participate and try their hardest in events. We appreciated the cooperation and understanding shown by families following the COVID restrictions of  only 1 adult per family. This helped us to ensure that we continue to keep our school community safe and healthy.

We would like to thank our Sports Day Committee, Sharyn, Ms Leonards, Dale, Ms Nikolopoulos, Miss Travis, Anita and Kellie for the preparation and planning of our 2021 Sports Day. We were certainly lucky with the weather.

Thanks also to our Canteen staff and volunteers for the Sausage Sizzle. We know that this is an important part of our Sports Day tradition and that children and families enjoy ending the day with a sausage or pattie.

Junior Cricket Team Report - Term 1

Front Row - Joe, Kaan, Renesh, Toby

Back Row left to right - Tanvi, Willem, Tyler, Asroosh, Aarav, James, Ben

Absent - Cameron

Term 1 saw an enthusiastic group of young cricketers take to the field. For many players, it was their first time playing in "whites" and with the full protective kit (helmets, gloves, box and pads).

Under the guidance of our Coach Chris, players have improved their skills in batting, bowling, fielding and general "match sense".  Thank you to our cricket co ordinator Ashley McDonald, Chris Ansell (Coach & Match Umpire) and the parents who help out at practice and with match scoring. These roles are all in a volunteer capacity and our school team sport is unable to occur without them - so we greatly appreciate everyone's time and effort. It has been a fun season and awesome to see how much enjoyment the players get out of the game and with their team mates.

Margot Strelan (Junior Team Manager)

Kanga Cricket Team

The Kanga Cricket Team played weekly on Friday night at Pertaringa Oval. Kanga cricket is a modified, shortened version of the game that gives everybody a chance to bat, bowl and field. Here is a photo of the Kangas showing off their moves.

Canteen News

The Canteen will have a new menu on Qkr starting next term. There are some old favourites and some new exciting items to keep an eye out for.

Thank you for ordering and supporting the Canteen during Term 1. Looking forward to your continued support next term.

Uniform Shop News

Book Your Appointment Online Now!

As we move towards the end of term and the change of season, the school uniform shop is ready for the change with beanies, long sleeve polos, Boss tops and tracksuit pants.  Online orders will be filled on the last day of term before the uniform shop closes for the two weeks of school holidays.  Orders placed online over the holidays will be packed and sent to classrooms on the first day back.  Students are still required to wear their school hats on days where the UV rating is 3 or above so be sure to check the right hat came home on sports day and keep it in the school bag ready for Term 2!  With the name tags hidden on the inside of our reversible hats, many kids end up accidentally swapping hats on sports day so we encourage all parents to have a quick check of all uniform items before the term ends.

Due to social distancing requirements, we can only have one family in the store at a time.  All waiting families must wait outside the school buildings, call or text Michelle on 0409 957 815 when you arrive. If you do not have an appointment you will have to wait outside until all appointments have been completed first.

How do I book?

The easiest way to book is to go to the SkoolBag app - click on Uniform Information - click on bookings for Uniform Shop and open the attached link. This will take you to Dernancourt School R-7 Uniform Fittings/Sales and fill in your details.  Or you can click on this link https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code?code=pqg55

What if I know exactly what I need?

If you know what you need you can place an online order and collect in store or have it sent to your child's classroom.  Simply note your child's name and classroom in the “Notes to seller” box and the order will be delivered to the classroom. https://belgraviasportsonline.com.au/pages/uniform-shops

What if I can’t get to the shop when its open?

You can book your child an appointment time to come to the shop Monday afternoon or Friday morning and have a fitting with Michelle and she will send home a sizing sheet so you can order online anytime.
