Foundation Students: Rest Day

As you are aware, Foundation children will be having rest days until Wednesday March 15th. Over the coming Wednesdays, your child will be required to attend school once for a 30 minute session with their teacher. This will build on the assessments that we did at the beginning of  the year and will allow the teacher time to work closely with your child to continue to learn more about them, particularly in the area of Numeracy.

These appointments will be held on the following Wednesdays via a booking system and further details will be sent to families shortly.

* Wednesday 15th February     * Wednesday 22nd February     * Wednesday 1st March

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE PROCEDURE

School Attendance - SkoolBag or Voicemail (Attendance Line - 8742 3381)

If your child is absent from school please communicate this with the school office. SkoolBag has an attendance e-form which can be filled out and submitted. This will be sent directly to the office.

Alternatively, please use the school phone number (8742 3381) and select the attendance line option. When leaving a message please ensure you clearly state your child’s full name, class and the reason for their absence. We must have a valid reason for marking your child/children absent.

If your child needs to be collected early from school, please also communicate this with the school office. The SkoolBag attendance e-form can be used and this will be sent directly to the office.

Thank you for your co-operation as it is much appreciated.

STUDENT WELLBEING

What a great start back with the children who are very settled and happy at school.  What a delight!

It will be a busy year in the wellbeing space at St Joseph’s this year. It's sure to pack a punch. Please click on the link for a summary of our Wellbeing Programs.

LEARNING DIVERSITY

It has been so lovely to see all of the children’s smiling faces as they settle into the new school year. Children have been exploring their new learning spaces and have been spending time getting to know each other and their new community.

Information regarding Welcome Conversations and Parent Support Group Meetings will be sent out shortly. These will be an opportunity for parents to meet their child's teacher and share about their child.

Finally, if you have any questions or concerns please come and chat to us. We are here to support our entire community.

PBL

Over the past 2 days in Year 3/4 Maddy, we have spent a lot of time talking about our PBL expectations and what it means to be kind, respectful, responsible and courageous at St. Joseph’s. The students participated in rich discussions and shared many wonderful examples of their own behaviours that reflect our school values. We now have this PBL wall in our classroom to refer to that has been created by the students. I have already seen great examples of positive behaviour in our room and look forward to what is to come in 2023!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

SPORTS DAYS

Next week our regular timetabling will begin, including our specialist programs. Listed below are days when children will be required to wear their PE uniform. STEM: Term 1

During Term 1 in STEM, students will be exploring digital systems and technologies. In particular, they will be learning about the components within each of these devices, their functions (input, output and storage) and how they can be paired together with peripheral devices (keyboards, mouse, etc) to enhance the functionality of the device. Additionally, students will learn how to be respectful and safe, digital citizens when using technology through apps and websites.

However, we need your help! Do you have an old iPad, laptop or desktop computer that you no longer use or functions? We would like one of each to dismantle during our learning. If you have one of these devices you wish to donate to the school, please email me at fleur.horvath@sjwerribee.catholic.edu.au

ADMINISTRATION UPDATE

Dear Families,

As per the Fee Agreement Letter that went out last year, please see the 2023 fee schedule listed below as a reminder. Direct debits will commence Monday 20th February, 2023.

The SkoolBag app is the easiest way to keep up with school events, last minute notices, access the attendance e-form, view newsletters and receive all school communications. For those new families who have joined our community in 2023, please downloaded the App and we will approve your request.

St Joseph's is excited to introduce a new platform SIMON (PAM - Parent Access Module) and SIMON Everywhere App which will streamline the communication processes for our families and increase efficiency. We are in a transition period and you will soon receive an email with instructions and log in details. We will continue to use the Skoolbag App for updates in the interim but this will be phased out with all future notices, updates and calendar items posted solely on SIMON Everywhere. We will advise families when the email has been sent as it may appear in your SPAM account. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition phase.
