From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome Back for Term 4.  This term we have many events and activities to look forward to before we wrap up the school year so please stay in tune with our important dates.

Transition is always an important part of term 4, as well as our swimming and surfing programs.

We currently have a waiting list for enrolments in some year levels, so if any families know that they are relocating at the end of the year, please let us know as soon as possible.

Our building project is getting very close to completion.  We hope to have occupancy at the end of October, once the external works are completed. It looks amazing!

Planning for 2023 is well underway.  As we did last year, we will be using Class Creator to create class groupings.  Academic and social information for each student is entered prior to the groups being generated by the algorithm within the program.  There is no need for parents to make requests.  Our teachers know your children very well.  Classes are grouped and regrouped for key learning areas, which exposes them to a variety of pairings.

2022 School Closure Dates

Term 4 - Monday November 21 (Report Writing)

Working Bee - Term 4

We have changed the date of the Term 4 Working Bee from this Saturday to Saturday October 29. With the completion of the new building nearing, we thought we would hold off so that the jobs that will need doing around the outside of new building can be done at this time.

If you are available to assist with this working bee, please click on the link below.

Condolences

We send our prayers and sympathy to the following families who have lost a love one:

Rohan, Georgia & Nellie (Yr 2) Bourke, on the death of Rowan's mother and to Cath, Justin & Ruby (Yr 4) Connellan on the death of Cath's father.

School Uniform

As we move into Term 4 and the "warmer" months all students are to be wearing the correct summer uniform.  During our uniform checks earlier this week we identified these uniform breaches.

1. Socks other than navy blue.

2. Footwear with white or coloured markings (all black is required) -  Coloured runners are only for sports uniform.

3. Jewellery other than the permitted studs/sleepers. Necklaces and loose bangles are not permitted.

4. Hair lengths below the collar not tied back (boys & girls).

5. Hats that are torn and almost white in colour.

Baptismal Preparation

The Star of the Sea Parish (Warrnambool, Koroit & Port Fairy) is facilitating a monthly preparation evening for parents whose children will be celebrating the sacrament of Baptism.  The information session will take place at 7.00pm every second Tuesday of each month, commencing Tuesday October 11th.  Further enquiries or to book contact the Parish Office (Fr. Bill Lourey).

Wellbeing

Child Safety - Working with Children Check

Parents and volunteers are encouraged to support St. Patrick’s Primary School and our students by volunteering their time to help in classrooms, school events, excursions, canteen and various other times as invited by the school.  In 2008, new State Legislation required volunteers working with children in Victoria to have a current Working with Children Check (WWC Check).

If you would like to volunteer your time at St. Patrick’s for any purpose/event, you will need a current Working with Children Check (WWCC), this is Victorian Government legislation.  Volunteer WWCC applications are free of charge for volunteers.

Food Share

Last term the Year 5 & 6 students worked on a very important community project for Food Share. Students were given a list of the ingredients provided in the emergency relief hampers Food Share gives to those in need. Along with their families, students created a recipe using these ingredients and then brought their recipe into class.

During class time students worked together to create a recipe template and wrote a clear procedure for their recipe. Amanda Hennessy, the CEO from Food Share was blown away with the high standard and variety of recipes created by our students. The Year 5 & 6 students also used our school eggs and learnt how to make Egg in a Hole. This simple recipe was a hit with everyone. During Term 4 we will be sharing one of the recipes created by our students .

Keep your eyes peeled for the sponsorship forms which will be sent home with your child tomorrow. Once you have the form, you should sign up for a Student Profile Page at  schoolfunrun.com.au. You’ll be able to access online fundraising and can win a  $20,000 Ultimate Family Package!

Students who raise $10 or more will receive a reward, and the more money you raise  the better the reward, and the more you help the school!
