Gospel Reading

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew

Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people, ‘What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He went and said to the first, “My boy, you go and work in the vineyard today.” He answered, “I will not go,” but afterwards thought better of it and went. The man then went and said the same thing to the second who answered, “Certainly, sir,” but did not go. Which of the two did the father’s will?’ ‘The first’ they said. Jesus said to them, ‘I tell you solemnly, tax collectors and prostitutes are making their way into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you, a pattern of true righteousness, but you did not believe him, and yet the tax collectors and prostitutes did. Even after seeing that, you refused to think better of it and believe in him.’

Gospel Reflection

The gospel reminds us of something we often forget: words can be meaningless. Promises are empty when not followed by action, our actions speak louder than our words.

Do I make promises to others that quickly go out the window?

“May the Eucharist give us the strength to not only ‘look good’, but to ‘be good’, to start over if we need to, and do our best to live out the faith we profess.”  © Richard Leonard

Thank you

Thank you to all our staff and students for all their hard work throughout Term 3. After a disrupted beginning to the year it was good to get back to the consistency of school without interruptions. Thank you to the parents also for your ongoing support.

Term 4

Term 4 will commence on Tuesday 13th October. We will continue with our current hygiene practices and our morning drop off and afternoon pick up arrangements will also remain the same.

Tik Tok

While the age restrictions for Tik Tok and other social media apps is not suitable for primary school children, some of our students do have access to them at home with or without their parent's knowledge. It has come to our attention that students are viewing and discussing, at school with friends, extremely inappropriate content they find on social media. Some of the songs and lyrics discussed are particularly disturbing for children of any age. We ask that parents be vigilant and monitor the children's use of these platforms.

Principal/Citizenship Awards

At the end of each term we present the Principal and Citizenship Awards. Each class teacher selects one student from their class to receive a Principal’s Certificate and one student to receive a Citizenship Certificate.  The criteria for selection is listed below:

Student Data Validation

As part of our annual system and legal requirements, Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP) is asking families to ensure all relevant contact and student information is up to date and accurate for the purposes of communication and providing relevant support to students.

On Monday 19 October, households will receive an email or SMS from CEDP with a link and login details to the Student Data Validation (SDV) form.

Once you have logged in you will be able to verify existing information from the school database and update if necessary. The process should not take more than 15 minutes and will need to be completed by 5:00pm on Friday 6 November.

If you have any questions about the Student Data Validation form, please contact our Community Liaison Team on 9840 5796.

Parent Survey Results: Draft New (Religious Education) Curriculum

In week 8 of this term, all parents of students involved in the Term 3 “Test Runs” of the Draft New Curriculum in Religious Education, were given the opportunity to share their feedback and insights. Thank you to all parents who were able to do so. Over 450 parents from across the Diocese have responded and there has been a positive response with the majority of parents agreeing to each of the statements listed below:

  • My child has been enabled me to think about their faith

  • My child has connected what they have learned to their life

  • My child has responded positively to their lessons

  • My child has spoken about their lessons at home

Important insights and points of feedback were also provided which, along with feedback from students and teachers, will be read and reflected on by Mission leaders as they continue to refine the Draft New Curriculum.
