Newsletter

The school newsletter is where you will find all the up-to-date information about what is happening within the school and is distributed at the beginning of the week. The school newsletter is located on our Skoolbag app and on the school website.

Book / Resource Levy

The 2023 Book / Resource levy will be $70. For parents with more than 2 student at the school a small discount will apply. Invoices will be distributed this week and the school would appreciate it if you could pay this as soon as possible.

Updated Information Forms

A student and family information form and Medical Form will come home this week. Please complete and return these to the office as soon as possible. It is important that we always have the most up to date information relating to your child.

Scripture/Ethics

SRE and SEE takes place on Thursday afternoons. Currently Ethics is only offered to some cohorts as there are no teachers available

School Assemblies

Our school assemblies are held weekly on Friday afternoons currently at 2.15pm. We will be making an adjustment to this time to accommodate our Support Unit students and parents will be advised when this will be taking effect. The Assembly is an opportunity for student achievements to be recognised. Each class takes turn to conduct our assemblies and are all looking forward to this opportunity.

There are a few DoE requirements that I like to remind everyone of at the beginning of every year:

Absentee Information

When children do not attend school, they miss vital information, their learning routine is broken and they can lose confidence, which can affect the building of friendships.

If your child has to be absent from school for any reason, please tell your child's teacher, the school office, phone, email, Skoolbag or send a written note as soon as possible, or within seven days.

If your child arrives at school late they need to be accompanied by an adult and report to the school office.

Once children are enrolled parents are legally required to send them to school every day that the school is open for instruction or participation in school activities, such as sports days.

Failure to explain an absence within 7 days is recorded as an unjustified absence. School will inform parents via SMS on a daily basis, if a student is absent from school without explanation.

What should I do if our family is going on holiday in school time?

Families should try to arrange holidays during school vacations. If this is not possible, you need to contact the school office and complete an application form at least 10 days prior to the intended absence. Applications are not automatically granted but considered in light of attendance history.

When to get help?

The department has implemented a number of attendance programs to support parents in ensuring their children attend school regularly. If you are having difficulty getting your child to attend school regularly, you might like to talk to the school principal or the school counsellor.

Basic Safety Rules

  • Pupils walking to school must use the supervised crossing in front of the High School when crossing Park Avenue.
  • Primary children ONLY may ride bikes to school and ALL children riding a bike to school MUST wear a safety helmet. If any child in K-2 wants to ride, they must be under the direct supervision of a Parent/Carer (not older siblings). All bikes need to be left in the school bike racks at the rear of the staffroom.
  • Bicycles must NOT be ridden or scootered in the school grounds or along the footpath from Park Avenue.
  • Children riding scooters must follow the same rules as bike riders.
  • No riding of skateboards.
  • Pupils are not to run on concrete areas.
  • No child is to leave the school playground without written permission from parents.
