Colour run

The first ever Pocket School Colour Run is just around the corner - Next Friday. Be sure to help your children with the sponsors for this fun fundraising event. Not only will the kids have a great time, this is also the only fundraising event for 2020 (and without the usual cash injection from The Winter Festival, we after after some much needed funds in order for the P & C to continue to fund the music program).

If you have lost the note or have forgotten the details, check out the accompanying Skoolbag message with all the details.

Also, have a read through a couple of the articles from the shops we purchased the prizes from (see below). Why did we purchase the prizes this year instead of seeking donations? The Year 6 children figured that small business would be doing it tough already, so they wanted to support those small businesses that have supported us in the past by spending money in their shop. What a kind and thoughtful gesture!

How is Wellbeing Integrated at the Pocket?

Do you want to know how The Pocket Wellbeing Initiative is integrated into our classrooms? Well come out and pick up your children from school over the next fortnight to have a guided tour by our children. That's correct, our children have made artistic displays that will be on show in the pick up zone and they will talk you through how they see wellbeing and mindfulness integrated into their classrooms.

Our staff created their own and it was showcased last week.

2021 Kindergarten Transition

Our first Kindergarten Orientation is this Thursday 9am - 12pm. We will start in the pick up area with an informal chat while the children play. Ms Jones and Amorette will then take the kids to the Kindy room for a super fun morning. Parents are invited to stay for a chat and a cuppa. Alternatively, this is a drop event so if you have places to be you can simply drop your child off at 9am.

Staffing

This week we welcome Pauline back to the front office. Thank you to Chenoa and Wendy for filling her role over the past few weeks.

From Wednesday Ms Hauenstein will be taking leave. Mrs Glasson and Mr Quirk will be covering her days.

We have had many questions about what our classes will look like next year and who the teachers will be. We have many processes to complete before we are able to announce this. We need to break our 2021 budget down to see how many teachers / staff we can employ, we have to ensure we have the anticipated number of children for 2021 and we have to confirm our staffing. We are aiming to have all of these complete by week 8 or 9 of this term.

Swim Scheme

Our 2020 Swim Scheme sessions start on Monday 23 November. We have managed to keep the price down to just $60! This means nine teacher led sessions plus a 1 hour session on the inflatable or a fun session in the small pool at Mullumbimby. A note with all details will be going home with your children this afternoon and an online note will be completed and live by tomorrow afternoon.

Storyboard - Byron Writers Festival

Four very lucky students have been working closely with Zanni Louise throughout this year to compose their own stories. This cumminates with an authors day at Ocean Shores Public School. Not only do these four lucky students get to see Lucas Proudfoot, Tristan Bancks and Zanni Louise, the whole of Year 4 and 5 get to go as well! We will be sending a note home with all the details once they have confirmed the times with us.

Possible Presentation and School Performance Evening

At this point in time we have penciled in Tuesday 8 December for our Presentation and School Performance Evening. We are still unsure if this will go ahead as a face to face evening or if we will have to use video technology to showcase the amazing talents of our children. We aim to make a decision by the end of Week 7 to ensure we have ample time to prepare one way or the other.
