Term 4 Week 6: 14th November -18th November 2022

Principal's Blog

Welcome to Week 6 Term 4

Make My Day

Last week I had a very special visit from Indie in 4C. Indie came to read a piece of writing she composed which clearly came straight from the heart. Indie is an animal lover who was expressing her feelings towards those who mistreat animals. Thank you for sharing your feelings Indie and your first attempt as an animal welfare advocate.

KP have some amazing things happening. Connor, Bonnie, Luca, Alexa, Jax and Levi all visited to show their writing. Every student is using capital letters, finger spacing and full stops. Well done KP you are certainly ready for Year 1!

Classes 2023

Currently our stage supervisors are forming classes for 2023. This is a complicated and time-consuming process. Student centred decisions are made considering all aspects of the child including academic, social and emotional needs. If you have any concerns about the placement of your child for next year, you need to contact their class teacher to discuss this now. Once classes are established in 2023 changes will not be made.

Support Classes

We have now received our final establishment paperwork for our three new support classes for 2023. Our student intake meetings commence next week and we are very excited to be welcoming our new students and families into our Caves Beach PS community. We are currently working through the staffing process and are hoping to have the staff confirmed prior to our December break.

Grow Your Mind

Another strength you can grow is LEADERSHIP

Showing LEADERSHIP means inspiring others by being

respectful and confident in group situations in the

classroom, on the playground or at home.

When we show LEADERSHIP we use our WISE OWL.

This strength is important for our mental health because we feel proud when we inspire someone.

    You can display LEADERSHIP by:

  • being fair when deciding what to do as a group and listening to each person
  • coming up with a game and organizing others to play in a respectful way

Set yourself a ‘LEADERSHIP’ challenge today!

Band Presentation night

Save the date! Wednesday December 7th, 6pm- 8pm. Band presentation night in the school hall. This is a chance to showcase the Junior, Senior and combined bands, our year 6 students and present awards for the year. Note with all information will be sent home this week.

New band Members

The new beginner band is up and running! There are still places available and in particular we are looking for saxophone, trombone and flute player, other instruments are also available. There are no bass guitar positions left, unless you own your instrument. The band open to students in year 1 to 5 in 2022. Please return notes through this week and ensure you speak to or email Mrs Scott about instrument hire before paying fees.

Changes to band rehearsals for term 4

Looking forward for the remainder of the year, the band will undergo some changes to accommodate a new beginner program trial period and see junior members transition to senior band. To cater for the needs of our current members of junior and senior band we will combine the groups one day a week to form a large band and still rehearse separately each week as well. If you have any questions regarding this, please email. If your child has recently joined the junior band, they may prefer to stay in the new beginner band on Tuesday for the remainder of this term, please contact me for further details if required.

Band rehearsals for the rest of the term are as follows:

Week 6 - Week 9

Tuesday - Beginner band rehearsal 8.15am - 9am

Wednesday - Combined Junior and Senior Band - 8am - 9am

Thursday - Junior Band - 8.15am - 9am

Friday - Senior Band - 8am -9am

Looking forward to an exciting end of the year.

Borrowing Reminder

As the end of the year zooms closer, please watch out for notes advising you that your child has an overdue book. We would like all books back safely in the library before end-of-year stock take  which starts in a few weeks.

Did you know that by reading for just 10 minutes a day, you’ll learn over 600, 000 words in one year? That’s more words than the number of people living in all of Tasmania.

Canteen 2023

As we plan for a big year in 2023, we still have a few vacancies on our volunteer roster  – in particular we are looking for people to help out on Thursdays and Fridays.  If you can spare 2 days a term, your support would be greatly appreciated – it is not to complicated, you are only needed for 4 hours and our customers are super friendly and very cute!  New to the school – a great way to meet people?  Get a group of friends together and catch up once a month. If you can help, please see Jo in the canteen or email us – cavescanteen@gmail.com

Uniform Shop – TERM 4 OPENING HOURS

We will be reopening the School Uniform Shop on site for Term 4 2022 – on Wednesday mornings from 8:45am – 9:30am.  This is mainly to assist our new Kindy families with planning their uniform needs – but all families are welcome!

Price Increase

Our Uniform Suppliers have passed on a number of price increases in the past 2 years which we avoided passing on to our families.  However, with a further price rise we have reviewed all prices and there are some changes to come into effect from Term 4 2022.

There is some good news to go with this – we have negotiated a price DROP for our sport shirts so they will actually reduce in price!!

Our school uniform range is still great value and we are significantly cheaper than other retailers on comparable items – eg. our school polos will be $30 from Term 4 whilst Lowes are selling them for $39.

To Order Uniforms

Place your order via the Qkr! App (quick, simple & our preferred option)

**You can link a credit card or debit card to the Qkr! App

If you need an order form to order/pay via direct deposit OR have ANY questions regarding uniforms prior to ordering - please let us know via email and we are happy to help! cavesuniformshop@gmail.com

If your uniforms are too big/too small, please email us and let us know - we can arrange an exchange to ensure that you have the right ones.
